The legends of the Amazon tell of the existence of an ancient race of giants, who successfully built cities long before the appearance of people of "normal size" in the area.
In 2012, one of the legends led a team of explorers to a remote region of the rainforest of Ecuador. Since time immemorial, some tribes have used this site as a ritual meeting place, believing that powerful spirits dwell here. For the local tribes, this was a sacred part of the jungle that they spoke of with awe and respect. The rationale behind this attitude became clear as soon as the group noticed the oldest megalithic structures.
The largest structure was a pyramidal structure 80 by 90 meters, erected from hundreds of giant boulders, each of which weighed more than two tons. The structure was crowned with a flat area, probably serving as a platform for ceremonies and rituals. The megalithic blocks of the pyramid were tied together by a fossilized material similar to concrete or cement. It would seem that the builders of the ancient fortress possessed engineering knowledge ahead of their time.
But the most interesting discovery came in the form of very large and heavy stone tools. Their purpose is unknown, but the team suspects they were used in metalworking. One thing is for sure: their size would not allow a person of "normal" height to freely use them.

It is interesting to note that previous expeditions to the Amazon jungle confirm the presence of giants in these places. They found bones much larger than those of an ordinary person. However, this surprising discovery was deliberately ignored by the authorities. In 2013, the Ecuadorian Ministry of Culture sent one of its teams to review the conclusion, but concluded that it was nothing more than a natural education.
Fenton and his team disagree with this conclusion. The size and shape of the blocks, the precision and technique with which they were carved, polished and assembled, indicate an artificial origin. Moreover, it looks like even more structures are waiting to be discovered.
Several other large mounds are yet to be explored. Although they are covered with vegetation, their shape suggests pyramids are buried underneath. This could mean that the jungle hides a complex of buildings, and possibly an entire city. As history teaches us, such complexes were erected around a central pyramid, which usually contained the remains of a great leader.
