During the underwater expedition, journalists of the ITV TV channel came across ancient structures.

The flood that consumed the city

The fact that somewhere between Tarkhankut and Yevpatoria there is a sunken city has been talked about for a long time, but every time it came to checking rumors, experts of different levels immediately denied them in the media. According to historians, in Crimea, at a depth of over four meters, there cannot be a single sunken settlement, since this contradicts the existing historical theory. Only insignificant parts of coastal ancient cities (VI-IV centuries BC) were slightly flooded due to the rise in the level of the Black Sea.

Alexander Herzen, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor of the V. I. Vernadsky TNU:

Taurus megaliths?

However, there was no evidence that there were once antediluvian settlements on the shores of the freshwater lake. And only in 2007, Sevastopol divers for the first time announced that not far from the Shtormovoe village of the Saki region they came across some artificial caves with windows and steps. It was then that there was talk that a sunken cave city was found off the coast of Crimea. Moreover, at a depth of 10 to 14 meters, which fundamentally contradicted the statements of historians. Moreover, scientists date the earliest Crimean cave cities as far back as the Middle Ages, and since then no large-scale disasters have occurred.

The journalists of the ITV TV channel decided to organize their own underwater expedition and in the village of Shtormovoye, two miles from the coast, they did find some artificial structures that outwardly very much resemble megalithic temples - massive columns and walls supporting multi-ton stone roofs. But the history of the construction of the Taurus megaliths really goes back millennia. And it is quite possible that a certain part of them after the sea disaster ended up on the seabed.

However, scientists are still skeptical about the discovery. Although it is no longer excluded that people could once really live in this area.
