What is Trilithon?
Trilithon are three megaliths (giant stones) of the western retaining wall of the Temple of Jupiter in Baalbek. Lebanon. It consists of three limestone blocks arranged in a row at a height of about 7 meters, each with an approximate length of 21.3 m, a height of 4.8 m, a width of 4 meters and an approximate weight of 900 to 1000 tons.
A number of historians believe that this entire grandiose complex was built by the Roman Empire. But…

The Romans have no information at all regarding the movement of huge blocks along Baalbek. There is scant information on transportation in the writings of Vitruvius, but the blocks there are much smaller and have nothing to do with the construction of Trilithon in Baalbek. In addition, the works of Vitruvius were published much later than the first mention of Baalbek, dating back to the times of the Phoenicians.
There is no doubt that Baalbek was being completed at different times, including by the Romans.
But the very core of Baalbek (a giant masonry from Trilithon and several dozen blocks of 300-400 tons) was erected much earlier. By whom?
