The history of this American villa began with ghosts. Inventor William Wirth Winchester, who died in 1881, left his wife Sarah a widow, whose child tragically died 15 years earlier. Soon after Winchester's death, the widow went to the medium who summoned the spirit of her late husband. The inventor of the legendary "Winchester" said that the family was cursed, because his invention claimed thousands of lives on the planet. A husband from the other world ordered his wife to leave and start building a house in another state, while as soon as construction is over, Sarah will die.
The widow, who believed the medium, moved to the California town of San Jose and began to build a new house here, fortunately, her husband's savings should have been enough for a long time. From 11884 to 1922, the builders worked daily on the house, which ended up with 160 rooms and looked more like a labyrinth. The fact is that Sarah, in an effort to extend the construction, forced the workers to do illogical and simply useless work, for example, stairs resting against the ceiling or bricked up windows. In 1922, construction was completed, and a few days later Sarah died.
