There are certain emotions that can be experienced when visiting a loved one's last vacation spot. Loss … Sadness …

If you ventured deeper into Maple Hill Cemetery in Huntsville, Alabama, you might hear sounds of joy and happiness. But if you listen carefully, you will understand that the sounds do not come from the living.

These are the children from the local cemetery who came out to the playground for a little play after midnight.

It was officially founded in 1818, but long before that, there was a famous burial site.

The oldest known tomb is that of a baby named Mary Francis Atwood, who was buried in 1820.

According to local lore and legends, the playground is the site of numerous paranormal activities. The photographs captured the ghostly balls as if they were descending a hill. Numerous eyewitnesses claim that the swing was seen moving on its own, screams and children's laughter were heard, and some even saw ghosts of children playing late at night.

Inside the cemetery itself, in an old crypt, there is an antique rocking chair. The chair belonged to one of the women buried in the family crypt, and it looks like she still uses it. Visitors say that if you listen carefully, you will hear the chair swing back and forth!

Murder legend

Decades before the construction of the playground in 1985, the area had become a limestone quarry.

The legend tells that someone walked through the so-called “Dead Children” playground and found a small human skull.

The former quarry was searched and the bodies of some of the last kidnapped children were found. The bodies showed signs of prolonged retention. After this find was discovered, the killer must have been terrified, which put an end to the kidnapping.

Public protest

In 2007, the ever-expanding area needed an expansion of the cemetery, so the city demolished the playground to make room. There was such a public outcry from the community that the playground was returned with new and better equipment. The playground stands to this day and is still a hotbed of paranormal activity, which is said to be most active from 22:00 to 3:00.

Drost Park would be a great family picnic spot and energize the kids during the daytime. But as soon as night falls, the Maple Hill kids come out to play
