An ordinary-looking local came to the police station in Eastcourt, South Africa, and immediately stated:

At first, the police thought that this man had gotten a cigarette, but in the bag with him he really had parts of a dismembered human body, or rather arms and legs.

Later it turned out that this man was part of the cannibal community, and in their village, almost a third of the inhabitants deliberately tried human flesh.

As the local newspaper Estcourt News reported, when police searched the man's home, they found eight human ears in a pot. The remains smelled terribly and were already beginning to decompose. And this meant that at least several people became victims of the cannibals.

Further, this same man led the police to another house, where acts of cannibalism took place.

Later, the police detained four cannibals, and then three more, including one healer. It turned out that they could not only kill people themselves, but also dug up remains from cemeteries.

Curiously, with all this outrage from the police and local residents, cannibalism is still not officially banned in South Africa. There is a 1983 law prohibiting the storage of parts of human bodies without permission, and that's it.

After the cannibals were uncovered, local councilor Mtembeni Mayola gathered local residents at the town hall to calm them down. Instead, he was shocked to learn that about 300 people out of the audience, that is, one in three, admitted that at least once in their life they had tasted human flesh and did it deliberately.

After that, most of them pointed to the local healer Nino Mbata, who was the leader of the cannibals and asked people to dig graves and eat human flesh in order to be "healed."

After the arrest, the cannibals said that the hand and leg that were initially found belonged to a woman whom they themselves killed and dismembered. Her identity was identified as Zanele Hlatshwayo.

This event took place in 2017. In 2018, a trial was held, which gave life imprisonment to the healer and the man who first came to the police with the remains of a woman.
