Imagine the state of the famous Egyptian Sphinx from the Giza Valley, if not for the efforts of experts? Once upon a time this ancient monument was also covered by the sands. And its current appearance is the result of restoration work. Other sphinxes are simply less fortunate.

This stone statue can be seen in Pakistan. Incredibly, for centuries no one has noticed the huge sphinx. It rises above the rocky landscape in the south of Baluchistan. Only after the coastal highway Karachi-Gwadar port was opened in 2004, the sphinx was noticed.
Agree, it's hard to imagine that nature could carve the figure of a mythical creature with such precision. The contours of the front paws are clearly visible.
Interestingly, the headdress of the Balochistan Sphinx is very similar to what we see in Egyptian. How is this possible? After all, it is generally believed that on the head of the great sphinx from the Giza valley there is a nemes headdress of the pharaohs. If it was "worn" by other sphinxes, then they can no longer be considered the creation of the pharaohs. And the first sculptures could have appeared long before the Egyptian kingdoms and their rulers.
By the way, another sphinx was recently discovered in Egypt itself. They came across him while repairing a road in Luxor. The statue has the body of a lion and the face of a man.
