Dvaraka (or in other words Dwarka) - this city from the legends was the new capital of the kingdom of Krishna, in which the ancient tribes of the Yadavas lived. After Krishna wished to leave the old Mathura, he ordered the construction of a new city. And literally overnight, Dwarka was completely built and existed for over 10 millennia until it was swallowed up by the sea on the seventh day after Krishna died.

And it seems that scientists managed to find this city, which allowed Dwark to transfer from the category of mythical cities to real ones.

According to the legend, it was a city of truly unearthly beauty: the walls (made of pure silver) of 900,000 palaces were richly decorated with emeralds. Perfectly flat and straight roads, wide streets, countless parks and squares. There were no ordinary houses, there were only palaces in which dishes and utensils were made of gold and silver.

So this legend was found by the Indian archaeologist S. R. Rao and his discovery became so resonant that later this city was called "The Atlantis of Dr. Rao."

His team began excavations near the modern coastal city of Dvaraka in 1979. Moreover, the age of the artifacts that were first discovered at the bottom of the sea dated back to 1500 BC.

Further excavations have shown that the city may be 30,000 years old.

The remains of buildings were found at a depth of 40 meters in the Bay of Cambay, in the bay of one of the most ancient modern cities in India, Dvaraka.

Acoustic research performed showed that the city as a whole retained strikingly clear straight lines.

The excavations made it possible to find walls, paved roads, all kinds of limestone sculptures, but not a single whole structure was found.

The researchers explained this amazing fact as follows: Most likely, this city was covered by a giant tsunami wave, which literally washed away the city, leaving only the foundations of buildings and roads in place. Moreover, the first most destructive wave was not the only one, and an unknown cataclysm destroyed this area for quite a long time.

In India, there is a legend that Dvaraka was flooded at least six times and the modern city is the seventh to have been built from scratch in this area.

Geological surveys and aerial photography have shown that in fact, in this region, about two thousand years ago, there was an extensive flooding of coastal areas.

To this day, excavations continue. Scientists want to understand if there are even more ancient structures under the water column, silt and earth, but unfortunately the process is going with great difficulties, since the local authorities do not consider it necessary to finance these works.
