The Brittany region, which is located in the northwestern part of France, is located on the island and is the main part of the historical region of the same name. Here, near the city of Karnak, you can see the world's largest cluster of structures made of huge boulders. In total, researchers have counted more than three thousand megaliths, the age of some of them dates back to 4500 years. BC.

Karnak stones are not only alleys of megaliths, but also detached menhirs - megaliths, which by some miracle were installed by ancient people, their height differs markedly from their horizontal dimensions. The tallest free-standing stone is 6.5 meters high. There are burial mounds and dolmens - ancient burial structures, which were also made of stone blocks.

The structures were carved out of rock by people living in Brittany. The local area also has its own local legends about the appearance of these huge stone structures. According to one of them, the adviser to King Arthur, the magician Merlin, turned into stone statues of soldiers of the Roman legion. Another legend says that the Roman bishop Pope Cornelius once got so angry with his pagan persecutors that he turned them into stones.

The bulk of the Karnak stones were installed around 3300 BC. BC. However, archaeologists believe that individual structures may have appeared a thousand years earlier than others. Surprisingly, over the past few centuries, this world's oldest complex of megalithic structures has been deprived of the attention of historians and researchers. Back in the last century, pens, chicken coops and even stoves were built here, stones were used as building material in the construction of roads.

Scientists still have not figured out for what purpose these structures were built. Some suggested that the druids, the priests of the ancient Celts, who were also involved in judging, healing and astrology, once gathered here. Others see in these stone rows a depiction of the position of the sun during the solstices. Still others are sure that in ancient times stone megaliths were used as a primitive seismograph - in Brittany, there is indeed increased seismic activity.

Others believe that the French Karnak Stones, like the British Stonehenge, are an ancient astronomical observatory. Although these structures appeared much earlier than not only Stonehenge, but also the Egyptian pyramids, statues at Easter and Machu Picchu in Peru. And, perhaps, the French megaliths performed several important functions at once.

Today, thousands of tourists come here who want to see these ancient megalithic structures. Many of those present note the unusual energy of these places. There are those who consider this structure mystical, call it a place of power and the energy center of the Earth, where you can receive information from space. There is another theory, according to which some important information is encrypted in the arrangement of detached stones, for example, about the structure of the universe.

There is also controversy about the builders of these ancient sites. Many local residents are sure that only aliens could lift such heavy boulders. Or those who could subdue the laws of gravity and move in different dimensions. There is even a version according to which the stone megaliths of Karnak and other similar structures on the planet are places of energy funnels, centers of contact with other parallel worlds. Others believe that stones grant wishes, and therefore often come here with their various personal requests and dreams. And still others graze sheep here - this is how the local authorities fight against the weeds that fill antiquity.
