Today, scientists from all over the world are trying to find out the causes of certain dangerous diseases. For example, recently German scientists found that preservatives included in cosmetics can cause obesity in children of women who actively use them. There are a lot of similar studies and one of the most interesting is scientific work on the relationship between the number of sexual partners and the predisposition to cancer and other fatal diseases. In addition to finding out this pattern, scientists also managed to find out which people have the most sexual partners.

According to the scientific journal BMJ Sexual & Reproductive Health, in the study, scientists studied data on 2537 men and 3185 women living in the UK. The information was collected using the English Longitudinal Study of Aging research project, and the authors of the study were interested in data on people with an average age of 64 years.

Danger of promiscuous sex

In the course of the survey, 28% of men admitted that they had from zero to one partner in their lives. About 29% of men announced 3-4 partners, 20% about 5-9 partners, and 22% about ten or more girls with whom they were in a relationship. As for women, 41% of the participants had from zero to one partner, 35% had relationships with 3-4 men, 16% were in relationships with about nine partners, and 8% had more than ten partners in their lives.

Researchers have found that non-family people have a large number of sexual partners. It was also influenced by a high or low level of income, and people with average earnings, apparently, had a minimum number of partners. Scientists also noted that many supporters of promiscuous sex are addicted to cigarettes and alcohol. The most curious discovery was that people with a large number of sexual partners were not only susceptible to infection with sexually transmitted diseases, but also had a greater risk of developing cancer and cardiovascular diseases.

In particular, we are talking about the fact that women with a large number of sexual partners had a 91% higher predisposition to cancer than the rest. Almost the same can be said about men - those who led a promiscuous sex life suffered 69% more fatal diseases than people with regular sexual partners.

Researchers believe that the increased predisposition to dangerous diseases is due to complications caused by sexually transmitted infections. However, it should also be taken into account that people with a promiscuous sex life are addicted to cigarettes and alcohol. And these common addictions, by the way, also greatly increase the likelihood of dangerous diseases.

So we can say that a large number of sexual partners can provoke the development of such psychological diseases as depression and schizophrenia.
