Literally the whole world was looking for a driver. On the forums, caring motorists staged a pursuit of similar foreign cars. For the first time, probably, in the history of the Sverdlovsk police, the drivers themselves drove the cars for inspection at the traffic police. And the townspeople called the police and told about suspicious foreign cars with similar dents. After an unsuccessful weekend, the killer was put on the federal wanted list. Orientations were primarily sent to neighboring areas and closed cities. They thought that the bastard was not from the local area. And the area around Yekaterinburg was combed from a helicopter. A reward was announced for the head of the killer driver. The exact amount was not disclosed; it depended on the usefulness and relevance of the information. The head of the department, Yuri Zamyatin, personally received calls from citizens. And in the end he turned to a psychic.
- On the fifth day of unsuccessful searches, I personally turned to a psychic, - said the head of the Yekaterinburg traffic police, Yuri Zamyatin. - I wanted to attract a friend who has been working with the traffic police for many years, but she was in Kiev at that moment. Then I found another specialist.
The psychic was shown photographs from the scene of the accident and the fragments of the black bumper that were found there. He said where the car was - in Serov (where he was found). In addition, the psychic guessed the numbers of the car number - 871 - though he was mistaken in their sequence. The real number of "Toyota", which was found in the Serov car service - O718EM.
24-year-old Serov resident Artem Makhanyok fell into the hands of policemen on the evening of April 5 on Mamin-Sibiryak Street. Artyom was stopped not far from a law office, where he had already signed an agreement with a lawyer. The guy knew that sooner or later they would find him and wanted to prepare for the "judgment day". When asked about the dents on the car, Artyom, without batting an eye, replied that these are traces of an old accident, which the traffic police already know about. But during the five days of searching, the police knew all the alleged dents by heart.
Now the killer is in the temporary detention center of the Yekaterinburg Department of Internal Affairs.
