Ciudad Perdida is a ruined ancient city in the Sierra Nevada, Colombia, which, according to legend, was founded in 800 BC. The local tribes of Aruaco, Kogi and Arsario, who discovered the city long before its discovery by the authorities, claimed that they believed that their ancestors - carriers of the Tyrone culture - lived here. They kept the city a secret to avoid being captured by the local authorities.
By the way, local Indians call the city Teyuna or Buritaka. In 1975 the city was opened by local authorities. To do this, they had to make their way through the jungle and climb the stairs, consisting of 1200 steps.
The archaeological finds have exceeded all expectations. Gold figurines, ceramic urns, and hundreds of agricultural terraces are just a few of what has been found. But since the city is located on a steep rise of the mountain, and the road to it is more than 50 kilometers, for a long time the city of Ciudad Perdida was unguarded. Only since 2005 has Ciudad Perdida become a safe excursion destination.
