There is a stereotype in culture that people who have experienced clinical death saw the light at the end of the tunnel, angels or even God. However, not everyone has experienced this experience. The International Association for the Study of Near-Death Experiences (NDE) publishes on its website the stories of those who, being "there", faced a dark void.

One such story comes from Poland. A man named Peter says that his experience of the "afterlife" was negative. As a boy, he tried to commit suicide. And having lost consciousness, I realized that there were other people around him - inanimate.

According to the man, he felt as if he was being dragged into a dark abyss.

According to the narrator, a "commanding voice" brought him back to life.

A woman who was on the brink of life during childbirth also shared a similar experience.

Another NDE account also describes the experience of a dark void after death.

Earlier, a group of scientists found a connection between near-death experiences and the invasion of REM sleep into wakefulness. Also, according to their calculations, only 10% of people who find themselves in dangerous or difficult situations experience NDE.
