There are many different hypotheses about the origin of the mysterious crop circles. The first hypotheses appeared in the Middle Ages. We talked about this in the previous article - link to the article.

Now let's talk about the most common hypotheses.

1. Forgeries (falsifications)

With the increase in the popularity of such areas as ufology and the growth of computer technology, the number of those who are trying to create a sensation out of thin air has increased from the comfort of their homes. There are a lot of falsifications of various phenomena, including UFOs and crop circles. The authors are not limited only to Photoshop, but use the entire arsenal offered on the market of computer technologies and software. And if earlier such forgeries, with the presence of the original image, could be easily recognized, now with the growth of the quality of forgeries and the professionalism of the authors, it is more difficult. This takes time and resources, distracts from actual phenomena and phenomena, thereby harming researchers and scientists.

In addition to homebrew photoshoppers who decided to test their professional skills in using the program, there are quite a few reporters who are not clean on their hands, who, in pursuit of a tidbit of sensation, are ready for a lot. So in 1986, a British newspaper paid a certain farmer money to create a circle in his field.

Later, in 1991, two unemployed artists Doug Bower and Dave Chorley of Southampton told a national newspaper that they had allegedly falsified mysterious circles from the beginning and could prove it. They took "full responsibility for the pictograms" and admitted that they had done more than 200 circles since 1975. But since hundreds of times more of them were found, a version appeared that someone else was engaged in such free creativity.

But the forgers did not know the main secret of real circles, which will be announced in one of the following articles.

So from the second half of the 20th century to this day, you can count a huge number of fake circles. But the hoaxers put themselves in a stupid position. Here's what in his report "Hoaxers: Is There a Threat to a Natural Phenomenon?" writes researcher Paul Weigay: “They must be able to prove that all circles are the work of their hands! This is an unbearable task, since the emergence of more and more natural circles is the biggest obstacle for mystifiers, they have no power over the circles formed by natural means, and therefore cannot say: "Stop, do not appear again." Every time a new circle appears, the hoaxers rush to declare: "This is our handiwork."

They are forced to deceive further, in order to hide the previous one with the subsequent lie.

The hoaxers have put themselves in a stupid position, and as long as natural Formations appear, they face exposure. And every year the task becomes more complicated, as more and more eyes are watching to see if a new circle will appear where. Therefore, hoaxers have to look for the most distant fields for their counterfeits, where no one will see them. In the end, they will either have to redouble their efforts (and for what?), Or simply lay down their arms ….

2. Fingerprint of energy flow

Russian physicist, candidate of physical and mathematical sciences, author of a number of books and publications on the history of science and technology, Andrei OLKHOVATOV, does not exclude that Circles is a form of energy exchange between the earth's crust and the atmosphere.

3. Underground mushrooms

British scientists decided that the reasons for the appearance of crop circles are fungi that attack the roots of the ears (magazine "Mystics", III / 1991). But, to their disappointment, no such mushrooms were found. Moreover, if you accept this version, then in addition you will have to explain why mushrooms are able to "control" wheat, thanks to which it creates complex pictograms. And for this, it will also be necessary to put forward a hypothesis that the mushrooms themselves are an intelligent substance.

Perhaps their conclusions were influenced by another phenomenon called "Witch's circles". As a rule, this is an overgrowth of mushrooms, in the form of a regular circle shape with an empty center.

Perhaps these two phenomena are somehow interconnected. But no one has drawn any parallels yet.

4. Chemical effects on the soil

Some researchers argue that changes in the natural characteristics of soil composition as well as water supply can lead to the appearance of circles.

According to Lithuanian ufologists, lodging of wheat and other cereals is often observed against the background of clay soil. Experimentally, they found that in those places where the clay layer is located above 1-1.2 m, the death of ears of wheat is observed.

5. Effect of ammonia on stems

The newspaper "Komsomolskaya Pravda" published an article in which the "luminaries of agricultural science" assured that if in the fall a "shock dose" of ammonium nitrate was introduced in the winter crops field, within the limits of the future circle, then from such overfeeding with nitrogen the plants within the required limits would grow faster, and achieved such growth that thin stems will fall from the slightest breath of breeze.

You can lay them with a rope in a spiral (this is exactly the picture observed in "crop circles"). As the journalists tried to demonstrate in one of the private farms in the Moscow region, however, the experiment failed, the stalks poisoned with nitrogen did not want to lie down, and the journalists had to resort to the help of a mower to get the desired picture.

6. Influence of underground structures

According to some scholars, crop circles appear over ancient places of worship. But in practice, such cases have not been reliably recorded.

7. Side effect of lifting the plate

After the appearance of the pictogram in Togliatti, the researcher from Samara V. I. put forward the idea that the rise of geological plates is to blame.

According to Avinsky, "the movement of the bowels is fraught with the threat of earthquakes, it is logical to assume that unknown intelligent forces are watching the vibrations of the bowels and are trying to stabilize the process, and crop circles are traces of a positive impact that prevents natural disasters." But in this case, it is not clear how to explain the appearance of circles in areas prone not to uplift, but to subsidence.

In this article, we have considered only a part of the hypotheses of crop circles: 1 - falsification; 2-7 are underground versions.

In the following we will consider other hypotheses. Perhaps some of them will resonate in your mind.
