Records of news broadcasts, which have been preserved in large numbers in the State Television and Radio Fund, we consider to be a kind of historical chronicle of the life of a huge country. Sometimes, when digitizing, we come across the most unexpected topics. These include the plot, which in 1989 caused a huge resonance.
For the first time, news was broadcast on the Central Television of the USSR (namely news, not a popular science program) about aliens visiting the Earth. Correspondent Yuri Bogaturia, as befits a true materialist, allowed sarcasm and irony into the plot, but the fact of coverage of the alleged arrival of UFOs in the country's main news program "Time" for the Soviet era was as extraordinary as the topic of the report.
The plot tells about an unidentified flying object in the city of Kharovsk, Vologda region. Children - witnesses of the event - tell quite convincingly about the meeting with aliens, show their drawings. This is followed by the correspondent's conversations with city residents and officials, of course.
