Looking at the latest reports and forecasts, it is difficult to believe that developed countries are somehow trying to solve the problem of the rapidly changing global climate on the planet, for example, by the same reduction in the use of fossil fuels. In any case, giving up gasoline and coal alone will not solve the problem, so some scientists propose more radical ways to prevent an imminent threat that could have catastrophic consequences for humanity by the middle of this century.

Why Geoengineering?

One of these methods is proposed geoengineering - deliberately changing the Earth's environment by isolating carbon emissions into the atmosphere or reducing the amount of sunlight entering the planet's surface using special aerosols that must be sprayed into the atmosphere. However, while these ideas may be truly well-intentioned, a Business Insider report, which took comments from some experts, suggests that the use of such methods by any country in the world without the approval of other nations could provoke a new world war.

The scientist explains this by the fact that even if one or another country wants to use geoengineering solutions in a local way, the consequences of these actions can spread and affect the territory of other states. In addition, the consequences of such methods can be unpredictable, potentially aggravating the ecological situation not only in the local area of application of the geoengineering approach, but throughout the world.

In any case, the debate among scientists about whether geoengineering is the only effective way to deal with the climate crisis is still ongoing. But if this is really the only way out that will solve the problem of global warming, then it must be adopted at the international level so that the possible consequences do not lead to a global war.
