The most terrible legend, which originated in the 60s, is associated with the death of a large group of students who decided to find traces of the treasures of Ataman Solovyov in the depths of Mount Kashkulak. Two dozen people descended into the karst cavity, and only two frightened and lost their minds got out, who suddenly died within a month after a terrible adventure. They say that they constantly carried strange stone figurines with them and muttered incomprehensible words, but it was not possible to get the exact details of the incident from the victims.

Scientists from Novosibirsk, who visited the karst cavity in the 80s, remembered about the mysterious shaman. According to the story of Konstantin Bakulin, already at the exit from the cave, he saw a strange man in fox skins, beckoning him back deep into the labyrinth. The man was saved by a strong twine that binds all members of the group together. The comrades realized that something was wrong, and quickly pulled the already losing his mind out of the scientist.

For a couple of years, the Kashkulak cave in the 2000s was held by a Hindu sect, creating a semblance of an unofficial monastery inside, but they managed to expel it. At the depths there were bones of animals and humans, traces of sacrifices. Alas, due to the uncontrolled visits to the tunnels by various adventurers and uneducated tourists, mummies and other finds related to prehistoric times have been lost.
