Not so long ago, all the media were full of shots with a pink dolphin, and now it's time for pink elephants

A true miracle of nature, the pink elephant calf was captured on camera by scientist Mike Holding in Botswana. The baby was spotted in a herd of 80 elephants who came to drink.

“We saw a pink elephant calf for two minutes, then the whole herd wade across the river,” says Holding. - The entire film crew was amazed by the spectacle and simply could not believe their eyes, because specimens of such a rare color are very rare, they are almost never found in nature.

The BBC footage is the first documentary evidence of the existence of albino elephants in the wild, lacking the pigment that provides color and protects from the sun.

The pink baby from Botswana is likely to suffer, scientists say: the hot African sun can burn its delicate skin and blind the baby.

Until the baby elephant grows up, he will hide in the shadow of his mother. However, as he grows up, the chances of survival will still be great: in the Botswana region there are many tall trees with thick shade and mud in which you can smear yourself to protect thin skin.
