In our world, note, there are a lot of such mysterious places. Some of them are more or less studied, for example, Easter Island with its amazing stone idols, although they have not been understood, others generally remain forbidden even for visiting and exploring.

The latter include Australia's black mountain Kuku Nyungkal.

Translated from the local dialect, it is “the place of the spear”. Why is the mountain with black stones (scientists identified them as minerals rich in iron and manganese oxide, which gives them a dark shade) such a strange name, no one really knows. Therefore, this natural formation, 4 kilometers long and about 300 meters high, somehow frighteningly "stuck" among the lush greenery of the surrounding landscape of the national park in Queensland, remains one of the most amazing mysteries of Australia.

UFOs are often seen here, as if aliens have their base under this mountain. Locals pass down from generation to generation legends about the spirits and demons living under this black mountain, who come out and take every random traveler to them. In addition, frightening sounds of obviously unnatural origin are heard from under the ground, although scientists are trying to explain them with quite "ordinary" reasons: these, they say, hiss, ahs and sighs of regret are simply caused by hot underground air currents.

Why local authorities forbid tourists from visiting Kuku Nyungkal

But here's the strange thing: the black mountain is prohibited from visiting by local authorities. No, no one here is afraid of revealing any military or scientific secrets, it's just that people often disappear on this mountain without a trace. Moreover, as a rule, the most recent cases of such disappearances are simply not advertised: this is understandable, the authorities are afraid to admit their blunders when the most desperate tourists nevertheless enter Kuku Nyungkal.

But here you can hear the legendary story about the disappearance of the farmer Harry Owens, who in the last century went to the Black Mountain in search of lost cattle, but never returned. They say that at that time mysterious creatures were seen on Kuku Nyungkal (the man, of course, they were looking for), which could well be the reason for the disappearance of the farmer.

The most recent disappearance of tourists dates back to 2009. They were two brothers Mackerle (Danny and Ivan Mackerle), who managed to tell about the oddities of spending the night at Kuku Nyungkal. They were struck by the terrifying silence (not a single sound of nocturnal insects), and in the morning the men were awakened by the sound of breaking stones, although, running out of the tent, they saw not a rockfall, but a mysterious black entity that immediately slipped out of sight. Unfortunately, the brave tourists did not stop there, continuing their overnight stays on the mysterious mountain. And … disappeared without a trace. This was the last straw of patience, after which the authorities simply prohibited anyone from visiting Kuku Nyungkal.

True, this does not make the black mountain of Australia less mysterious. Look at the documentary about her secrets - and you will see for yourself …
