Our village is very old - it is almost 600 years old. For many years, it was a calm and secluded place, with fields, forests and a clear river. The only thing that breaks the paradise idyll is the railway, which runs two kilometers from the village.
In the summer of 1980, a terrible incident occurred in our village, which we still remember. Victoria and Konstantin have been friends since childhood, at school they sat at the same desk, and when they grew up, they realized that they loved each other and decided to get married. However, before the wedding, Kostya did not live. Once, he and his friends were celebrating someone's birthday, the guys drank, a fight broke out, in which Kostya was stabbed to death. The guy was buried in the village cemetery, which is located outside the village, not far from the railway. The killer, Andrei, nicknamed Elk (his last name was Losev, and he himself was a hefty one), by coincidence, received a short sentence - only 10 years. Vika could not cope with the loss. The girl completely closed herself in, did not communicate with anyone, and spent all her free time at the groom's grave in the cemetery.
One evening Vika did not return home, and local men went in search of her. Found Victoria at night on a railroad cut in half. Her heart of longing and loss could not stand it.
It took only six years, and Elk was released on parole. He decided to celebrate his release at his home in the yard. Gathered friends, made a booze. Among them was my son - Lesha. Towards midnight, almost everyone fled to their homes.

When alcohol finally "blew the boys' roof off," Elk incited his friends to go to the cemetery with the direct purpose of desecrating Kostya's grave. Elk believed that it was Kostya's fault that he was imprisoned. Having found the last refuge of the murdered, the vandals smashed the monument, trampled the flowers that Vika lovingly raised and even tried to dig the coffin, but they did not have enough strength.
Early in the morning, it was still dark, I heard a knock on the door. I, of course, guessed that it was Lech who returned from a booze. When I opened the door, I saw a picture that I will remember for a lifetime. On the threshold lay my son, covered in blood and without one leg. Lesha had to tell everything.
“When we realized that we could no longer stay on our feet, we decided to go home. We walked by rail. Suddenly, in front of us we saw a girl, although I was drunk on the board, I found out that it was definitely Vika. She stood and smiled impudently. A moment passed, and I saw a train behind me. I was in front and at the last moment managed to jump off, but my foot fell under the wheels. Elk and Vanka did not have time. Where did that train come from? I have no idea. And it happened at the very place where Vika was found. Yes, we were drunk, but in the middle of the night, in complete silence, at least one of us should have heard the train several kilometers away. But neither I nor my friends heard him. For three kilometers I crawled home without one leg."
My son was left disabled for the rest of his life. For vandalism, he was given a condition. After that incident, he fell into religion. And although I was raised as an atheist, I must admit that the dead can take revenge.
