The emergence of life on Earth remains one of the greatest unsolved mysteries of modern science. And the question "Is there intelligent life elsewhere in the universe?" so far remains unanswered for both scientists and ordinary earthlings.

All life on Earth is based on an oxygen-carbon base. Why carbon? But because this element has the ability to create various, sometimes extremely complex compounds with opposite properties. The simplest example is ordinary soot and diamonds. Both are made up of carbon atoms. And all their difference lies in the arrangement of atoms in crystal lattices. Not to mention such hydrocarbons as oil and gas. This is also carbon in combination with other elements. This is such a connecting element.
But silicon also has similar properties. So why, somewhere far away, “flint life” cannot exist?

Therefore, the search for extraterrestrial civilizations is a very popular topic that goes far beyond science and spreads in a wide stream on quite serious media, literature and cinema. There is no need to talk about the Internet - on its vastness there are all facets of this topic.

Several years ago, NASA, collecting all such information, analyzing it, found that 97% of UFO reports have understandable scientific explanations that have nothing to do with outside cosmic forces. And the remaining three percent are statements by people with rich imaginations and often not very healthy psyches. Hence all these numerous stories about how someone was kidnapped by aliens, taken to their flying saucers, conducted experiments and returned back to Earth.
Nevertheless, the search for extraterrestrial civilizations continues. And in this search, the most modern technology is involved - telescopes operating in the widest spectrum of electromagnetic waves. But they haven't found anything yet.
It seems that this is natural.
A fruitless search
How old is modern human civilization? We are not talking about our distant ancestors who roamed the Earth and gradually populated its expanses. Are we talking about the time when the first states began to form? This is about 5 thousand years ago. Egypt, China, Mesopotamia. Good. Let's add tales about Atlantis, traces of which have not yet been found. It will turn out 10. Or 15. And when was humanity able to explore distant space? Less than 100 years ago. And what?
There are no "green men" in the solar system. No traces of any life have been found on the planets of the solar system. At least primitive bacteria. And where are the stars in the vicinity of which the so-called "exoplanets" have been found? Millions of light years away. Moreover, so far none of them, according to external signs, meets the conditions for the emergence of life, similar to earthly.
But this is not the main thing. All information that we get from observing these objects is millions of years old. This is not what is happening there now, but what happened millions, if not billions of years ago. And what is the likelihood that this not yet found alien civilization is still alive? What if we send them a message? It will also go on for millions of years. And when they receive it, most likely, nothing will remain of our Earth. The sun, according to all the laws of physics, will explode and destroy the entire solar system.
I want to believe
But people tend to believe in something - so they invented all kinds of gods for themselves. People would like us to be not alone in the endless universe. Moreover, now there are no hypotheses about the uniqueness of the Earth, as the only object for the existence of life, the more intelligent. Another thing is that according to the ideas of modern physics about the permissible speed of propagation of any signals (and this is the speed of light - study the Special Theory of Relativity, which has not been refuted), one cannot count on establishing contacts with alien civilizations. Even to discover their existence.
And what to do
So, hoping for aliens is not worth it. They will not come to our aid. And "apple trees on Mars" will not bloom. Our only planet needs to be equipped. And let the astronomers look for themselves. This, on a human scale, is not costly. There you look, and some good will turn out. After all, our civilization developed only because it set itself seemingly insoluble tasks. Some could not be solved. And with some - it worked. Therefore, now we live as we live. And do not wander through the woods, dressed in skins.
