In this section, we wrote about many secret and dirty conspiracies. But the MK Ultra project remains one of the most inhuman and outrageous designs in human history. It brings together a series of CIA experiments conducted in 1950-1970. Their goal is to control the human mind with drugs such as LSD and mescaline.

LSD is an extremely powerful hallucinogen. It is derived from ergot. LSD was first synthesized in 1938 and for many years, due to its extremely high efficiency, it was used in the study of the mechanism of mental disorders. The hallucinogenic properties of synthetic LSD were discovered by accident by the Swiss chemist Albert Hoffman: in 1943.

Mescaline at the same dosage is 5,000 times weaker than LSD, although it has a similar psychotropic and hallucinogenic effect. Contains mescaline in a cactus called peyote, native to Mexico and the Southwestern United States.

Ordinary sadism

During the experiments, the subjects took psychotropic substances that affect consciousness, after which their behavior was carefully studied. The subjects were unaware of what they were taking.

Quite often, the experiments ended in the death of the participants. Also, multiple cases of severe mental disorders have been recorded. Despite this, the CIA continued its cruel experiments until they were finally exposed. And as a result, only a small part of useful information has been obtained in twenty years. This is why most historians, politicians and journalists believe that elementary sadism was the driving force behind the experiment.

The MK Ultra project was launched in April 1953 by order of the head of the CIA, Allen Dulles. From the very beginning, it was intended for experiments in the field of mind control. The head of the project was appointed CIA chief chemist Sydney Gottlieb, who launched large-scale experiments. More than a hundred subsidiary programs were created under the wing of MK Ultra.

The goal was formulated as follows: with the help of drugs and electricity, to take full control of human consciousness. Means: artificial amnesia, erasing old and creating new personality traits, hypnotic encoding.

Initial research by the CIA was justified by the search for "truth serum" in order to use it in the interrogation of Russian spies.

The test subjects were soldiers, prisoners, employees of state organizations. All of them did not even suspect that they were being experimented with.

At the initial stage, the main subject of research was the study of the effects of radiation on the human mind. But time passed and priorities changed. The next major goal was the study of psychotropic drugs, including LSD. The development of programs required the involvement of "recruits" - they were selected from among the military personnel and CIA agents. Patients of psychiatric hospitals (moreover with minor mental disorders such as mild depression and neurosis), prostitutes and other representatives of the marginal strata of society were often used as guinea pigs. Gottlieb enjoyed adding elements of torture to his experiments. On his orders, subjects were injected with horse doses of LSD. In one experiment, "volunteers" took drugs for two months or more, with the result that most developed persistent mental disorders. Few survived.

Maniacs in white coats

An interesting fact: the longer the project lasted, the more inhuman and inhuman the methods used by the "researchers" became. But even at this cost, the experiments did not bring any positive results. And yet they continued!

Here is just one typical example - Operation Midnight Climax. Prostitutes in San Francisco recruited by CIA agents first put their clients to sleep and then injected them with LSD. The agents monitored the further behavior of the victim. From this operation, as well as from the entire program, no useful data was extracted. There is no doubt that the purpose of the vile experiments was to satisfy the lustful interests of her leadership … However, it took more than ten years to stop this cruel machine, destroying people pointlessly and aimlessly.

Later it turned out that the behavior of the project manager, Dr. Sydney 1, was already in doubt at that time. Oddly enough, the doctor himself took large doses of LSD. And although facts appeared one after another, confirming the complete failure of the experiment, [he never stopped repeating that drugs are the strongest weapon in mind control.

The fact that LSD was useless as a mind-controlling substance did not stop the MK Ultra team, which continued to conduct increasingly dangerous experiments on their unfortunate victims. In some cases, a mixture of amphetamine and barbiturate was dripped, resulting in confusion and often death. In addition to LSD, amphetamines, and barbiturates, the MK Ultra team began using other drugs such as heroin, marijuana, mescaline and alcohol.

The most tragic consequences were the experiments of Dr. I. Cameron, who put forward the theory of "mental leadership" by introducing (or deleting) certain information into a person's consciousness. At his clinic, Cameron was no longer limited to LSD. Here paralytic gases and poisons were tested, real torture was used: electroconvulsive therapy, prolonged drug coma, sleep deprivation, repeated repetition of sound signals and other methods striking in their cruelty … It is not surprising that by the end of the "treatment" the surviving patients were permanently damaged. They have turned into incurable madmen.

Belated apologies

1974 year. The New York Times newspaper publishes an article on the twenty-year history of MK Ultra. Congress creates a commission headed by Senator Frank Church. The commission's powers include a full-scale investigation of the illegal activities of the special services. Simultaneously, President Gerald Ford is creating his own independent commission, headed by Vice President Nelson Rockefeller.

Material evidence was immediately requested, but a significant part of it disappeared without a trace … In order for the truth never to surface, many records of MK Ultra's experiments were destroyed. Nevertheless, there was enough information to understand how large the scale of the lawlessness was. More than 30 universities and other research institutions were involved in the brutal project. At the same time, most scientists were well aware that experiments are completely meaningless from a scientific point of view. But the CIA was not interested in their opinion.

1975 year. Frank Church addresses Congress. He openly accuses the secret services of illegal experiments, as well as the death of a number of people. The first official victim was the military biochemist Frank Olson, who worked on the production of the secret weapon. Unbeknownst to him, Olson was stuffed with LSD and committed suicide by jumping out of a window. Olson's son claimed that his father did not commit suicide, but was killed.

1994 year. Olson's body is exhumed. The examination showed that before "throwing himself out" of the window, the deceased received a strong blow to the head and was unconscious …

Another famous participant in the experiment, professional tennis player Harold Bauer, died from an overdose of mescaline. And how many unknowns? …

After a series of shocking revelations by the US government, a series of investigations were launched, during which new horrific facts of the experiments were revealed. In 1977, President Ford, on behalf of the state, made an official apology to the victims of the intelligence services.

Lawsuits of people injured during the experiment continue to this day. What new inhuman experiments on people are engaged in by the American special services, neither the state, nor the press, nor ordinary citizens know yet, and some of whom do not even suspect that they are already objects of secret experiments.
