A resident of Denmark came to the doctors with complaints of shortness of breath and lack of smell in the left nostril, which prevented him from living fully. Doctors discovered a rare phenomenon in the patient's nose - a growing tooth.
The 59-year-old Dane's story of nose and breathing difficulties due to a grown tooth is not unique, but rather rare. This phenomenon is registered in no more than 0.1-1% of the population: from 1959 to 2008, scientific medical journals published articles on 23 such cases.
During the examination of the patient's nostrils, doctors saw some kind of dense object blocking the passage of air. The man complained of regular milky discharge from the left nostril. It turned out that this is an intranasal preserved tooth. Doctors scanned it and then removed it from the nose and examined the structure.
The man used nasal drops and steroid sprays for two years to reduce the level of inflammation, but the drugs did not help. Only when it became completely impossible to breathe, the Dane asked for medical help and became famous throughout the world as a rare phenomenon.
