Former Google engineer Anthony Lewandowski has created a nonprofit quasi-religious organization, Path to the Future, based on the idea of replacing God with artificial intelligence. The ideological inspirers of the project, however, have not yet reported details.
The name Anthony Lewandowski is well known to everyone (or almost everyone) who is familiar with the world of high technology. At one time, he led the self-driving car division of Uber. Around the personality of Lewandowski, a real scandal erupted not so long ago. The engineer was fired from Uber after a lengthy legal battle between the company and Waymo, part of the Alphabet holding. According to Waymo, shortly before leaving the company, Lewandowski downloaded files from Google's developments concerning self-driving cars, and then allegedly transferred them to Uber. The latter was also accused of hiding documents from the court that could be used as evidence against Lewandowski. Ultimately, the court banned the former Google engineer from engaging in projects related to lidar - optical sensors,using a laser to measure distance. At the same time, Anthony Lewandowski could continue to work with other areas, one way or another affecting unmanned vehicles. However, it seems that this is clearly not enough for an ambitious engineer. According to The Guardian, he founded the nonprofit quasi-religious organization Way of the Future. She is not declared religious and tax-exempt by filings with the IRS. It has a CEO and president - Anthony Lewandowski himself. With all this, the goals and objectives of the Path to the Future organization are closely intertwined with the goals and objectives of religious teachings. “To develop and promote the realization of an AI-based Godhead,” the company said in a statement. According to the authors,this understanding of God will contribute to the "betterment of society." How exactly the leaders of Way of the Future intend to achieve their goals, nothing has been reported.
