Russian scientists have established the composition of the crystals with which a 22-year-old resident of one of the Armenian villages Satenik Ghazaryan is allegedly crying, NTV reports. Correspondents of the TV channel visited Ghazaryan's home, where they were told that up to ten shards are removed from Satenik's eye every few hours, and then several fragments were taken for examination to a Russian hemological laboratory. There it was found that this is an ordinary industrial glass.
“According to all scientific data, glass is not produced in the body,” said Anna Hovakimyan, head of the Department of Inflammatory Eye Diseases at the Ophthalmological Center of Armenia, in an interview with the TV channel. According to her, Ghazaryan may suffer from a mental disorder - Munchausen syndrome, when a person deliberately harms himself.
By itself, the formation of solid crystals in the area of the eyes in humans is quite possible. This is a rare congenital disease - cystinosis, associated with a violation of amino acid metabolism. “At the end of the last century, a new drug, cystogone, was approved. It prevents the accumulation of cystine in the tissues of the body,”explained ophthalmologist Vyacheslav Kurenkov to journalists. On September 18, it was reported about a resident of the Indian city of Sagar, who had a horn removed, 10.2 centimeters high, which had grown on his head after an injury five years ago. Previously, the man himself cut off this neoplasm, but it grew anew all the time.
