For more than a decade, scientists have been haunted by the question of where the visions come from in people who have suffered clinical death.
Since the middle of the twentieth century, doctors have learned to bring people back to life using resuscitation methods, and since that time stories began to appear about what a person observed after death.
How is clinical death described?
People told about the same thing: they were met by a kind creature, they saw their dead relatives, etc. Then scientists suggested that these visions are given by the brain when a person has already been brought back to life, but at the same time he is still unconscious.
However, in recent years, this hypothesis is becoming less and less credible, since now a person can be reanimated even half an hour after death. Then he talks about what happened twenty minutes ago, when his brain was definitely not functioning.
The American resuscitator S. Parnia is studying the relationship between consciousness and thinking. He is trying to find out whether consciousness exists autonomously, regardless of the work of the brain. The above examples indicate that either science does not yet know something about the brain, or consciousness is not tied to thought.

According to Parnia (resuscitation physician), there is still not a single experiment showing how thought arises in the brain. He believes that, perhaps, the psyche and consciousness are a type of physical interaction unknown to scientists until now, not necessarily produced by the brain.
In addition, science does not know how the brain is able to switch from a conscious state to an unconscious state, otherwise doctors could bring patients out of coma.
Thus, S. Parnia tries to find an answer to the question of what is primary - thought or consciousness, and whether consciousness exists separately from the psyche. He argues that death is not a moment in time, but a certain process.
Until today, mankind does not know exactly at what moment the possibility of a person's return to life disappears, but one thing is known - even after a cardiac arrest, a person can be reanimated.
The most surprising conclusion made by Dr. Parnia is that consciousness is not a product of the brain, it exists as if independently of it, but its nature still remains incomprehensible.
