The ponds in the Samara region with rose water are artificial reservoirs for wastewater treatment, this color is not unusual during the cleaning process, so there is no reason for concern. This was reported to TASS on Thursday by the administration of the Kinelsky district of the Samara region.
Earlier, local residents discovered three lakes with rose water on the territory of this region. A corresponding video, depicting reservoirs of unusual color and rectangular shape, was posted on August 29 on YouTube and aroused the interest of local media, suggesting that chemical waste was dumped into these lakes.
“There is no reason for panic. According to available information, four years ago special microorganisms were launched into these storage ponds, which are engaged in wastewater treatment, and this pink color is a feature of the vital activity of these microorganisms. It's just that these ponds have never been filmed from above, from a copter before,”said the source. As the administration assured, despite the absence of reasons for concern, local supervisory authorities will take water from ponds for analysis and check compliance with environmental standards during wastewater treatment.
