Our expedition to observe the fall of comet Shoemaker-Levy on Jupiter was drawing to a close. During the days we spent in this place of Zhiguli, quite a lot of unusual incidents have accumulated. But now I will not tell about all the oddities that happened with us that week. I'll tell you only about one thing - on the last day a "winged cat" arrived at our camp, a very affectionate and very strange creature. After a hearty supper with our canned food, she purred for two hours next to us by the fire. We all carefully raised her "wings", looked under them, tried to feel how they are arranged, how they are connected to the body … Of course, these were not exactly wings, not the same as those of birds. Rather, they resembled outgrowths of skin, large enough to fold along the sides, much like the wings of an eagle, for example. And of course,this cat (either a mutant, or a victim of incomprehensible experiments in local nature) could not fly. Having allowed himself to be photographed goodbye, the “winged cat” disappeared into the darkness of the night. Unfortunately, the original photo has not survived for years. Years have passed, and imagine our surprise when one of the random fellow travelers literally says the following. A couple of years ago, a creature landed on the windowsill of his wife's acquaintance (an apartment on the first floor), which the woman, without hesitation, called a “winged cat”. The appearance of this creature is very remarkable. The body, like that of all our affectionate murks, is a real feline, covered with soft fur. However, further oddities begin. The paws are webbed, the wings are rather large and well-formed, but they seem to be not bird-like, but rather similar to the wings of a pterodactyl. And either leathery, or furry. The creature sat on the windowsill, then jumped (flew off?) Onto the sidewalk and moved along it for a while. The woman figuratively described the "gait" of this miracle as follows: "It flies like a chicken", that is, very awkwardly, awkwardly, it will run several meters,will rise to a small height and fly some distance, then land and run again … The woman lost sight of the "cat" when she ran to call her friend, intending to urgently call her to see this miracle.
The following is characteristic. A note about the "winged cat Zhiguli" appeared by that time quite a long time ago - several years before this observation. In addition, neither the witness herself, nor the wife of the person who told us, nor, finally, he himself, that old note about the "winged cat Zhiguli" had not read or heard of her. The nature of the description of the creature's appearance and habits also suggests that this is not a fantasy. A “fictional” flying cat would look a little more colorful and aesthetically pleasing. At least, the inventor would not have provided her with membranes and made her fly in a more beautiful style than the aforementioned "chicken" one. Indeed, according to the laws of fantasy, we will strive either to embellish reality, or to scare the interlocutor with some terrible details. Here everything is so everyday - I landed, jumped onto the sidewalk, ran away … Maybe she is still running around somewhere.
I cannot urge you to believe in the real existence of the "winged cat" (in its second, later version, since the first one was seen by all members of the expedition). But I also cannot deny the reliability of this event.

When you try to understand (or rather, just a little closer to understanding), where did this strange creature appear in our world, willy-nilly you begin to think that maybe it is from some other world - not ours, not earthly ?
Nevertheless, these observations were firmly engraved in the memory, and the winged cat became the first logo of the scientific and cultural forum "Samarskaya Luka: Legends and Reality", which we have been making since 2006 together with the Tourist Information Center of the city of Togliatti.

To participate in the first scientific and cultural forum, we specially invited two well-known researchers: a cryptobiologist from St. Petersburg, Doctor of Biological Sciences Valentin Sapunov and a Zhiguli regional historian, candidate of biological sciences Yuri Roschevsky.

At that time, Valentin Borisovich Sapunov believed that the territory of the Zhiguli Mountains was located on the path of the yeti's migration, say, from the Karelian forests somewhere to the Caucasus (it must be admitted that this creature is found there and there much more often than here).
But Yuri Konstantinovich Roschevsky did not agree with him.
This is what he said in his report, included in the collection of the first forum: “There is one more thing … this is the appearance of the so-called. shishig on Samarskaya Luka. Yeti is not only on Samarskaya Luka, but in many other places in Central Russia. But all the people who told me about them, they always emphasize: "Now I was telling you a fairy tale, a fable …" But as soon as the conversation starts about shishigas, the narrator emphasizes: "… and this I already tell you the truth." Local residents tell about shishig that they look like people, but people of "unusual appearance", that they could disappear and appear … The fact that the veracity of this event is always emphasized is suggestive. It's not for me to draw any conclusions, I just want to draw your attention to these facts. There is another interesting phenomenon. In world folklore, such a feature is known that the folklore of any territory, if there is no mountainous area on this territory, practically does not contain images that are called the word "giant". So, on the Samara Luka shishigs and giants are two mythological images, similar to each other."
According to the description of the appearance and habits of the shishiga and the yeti, they are one and the same creature, named differently. But we have already discussed the topic of "snowmen", but the topic of meetings with other unusual creatures has not yet been discussed. And there are such meetings, and it is not clear what to think about them and how to interpret them. Therefore, for now - only facts.
Summer, early evening, on the way from the village of Rozhdestveno to the village of Shiryaevo
Two middle-aged men were towing a car in Shiryaevo. The roads are there, guess what. And in one place the roadway was also covered with a fallen tree. I had to stop and get out of the car. To the surprise of both men, near the fallen tree (or even several trees - we did not begin to find out these details, and it did not matter) about eight little men 50-70 cm in height were scurrying along the side of the road. They were dressed in gray hooded clothes (trousers, long shirt, there was also some kind of headdress on my head - a cap or a hat with small brims). Our informants were, though immensely surprised, but managed to see that these "little boys" had faces like people. No special details on the face stood out (for example, large noses, as it is customary to describe it in fairy tales). No one had a beard or mustache either. Whether they scattered or disappeared, the observers did not understand this. They just somehow quickly disappeared from view.

I must say that the representatives of this little people have repeatedly caught the eye of attentive residents - not only this, not only this time and not only in this place. However, there are also observations about which, truly, you do not know what to think.

Here is one such observation. The husband and wife were returning to the city together from the state farm "Rassvet", which is beyond the village of Vasilyevka. In the morning they had to go to work, and the summer cottages delayed them until dusk, so they had to turn on the low beam. It was he who highlighted … the devil galloping along the side of the road - exactly the same in appearance as the artists paint him. As tall as a 7-year-old child, ponytail, horns - everything, "as it should be." To our observers, the wool seemed unusual - as it were, reflective, slightly greenish in the headlights. Then they themselves were surprised that for some reason everything else did not evoke such an acute feeling of unusualness and improbability, as it should have been in such a situation. They did not slow down, we drove about one and a half meters from him, but this creature did not even turn around, as if it had not seen the car.
I understand what thoughts someone will have now - summer, dacha … Alas, alas! The moral character of our observers is beyond doubt, they also do not suffer from hallucinations.
As a cadet of a military flight school, who flew at a military training ground in the … region, did not suffer from hallucinations. Time - evening, flights took place in a light haze. The cadet's report to the dispatcher that he had devils on the planes, with different numbers on the left and right planes, was heard by everyone who was on the air at that time. The dispatcher joked: "Bring them here, we will all look at them …" Uninvited passengers disappeared five minutes before approaching the base. According to this cadet, our informant, to the best of his artistic ability, tried to draw a sketch of one of the strange passengers. True, what twists and turns this cadet had to go through later, neither we nor our informant know.
By the way, it turns out that a few days after the incident at the Rassvet state farm, a devil was also seen at the traffic police post near the Bypass Road.
