The mysteries of the past often cannot remain in the past and continue to live in the modern world. Here, for example, is the secret of the Dyatlov Pass, where in 1959 a group of 9 tourists-skiers died under mysterious circumstances

They write books about this secret of the past, make films, argue and put forward versions of how 9 people could have died at once. For example, the director of the film "The Secret of the Dyatlov Pass" put forward the theory that the Dyatlovites were killed by the Soviet military, experimenting with human teleportation.

Nevertheless, most of the opinions still remain on the side of the anomalous version of the death of tourists at the Dyatlov Pass. There are many options: UFO, Bigfoot, ghosts of the past … But the essence of all theories is the same - the death of the tourists of the Dyatlov group was not the work of human hands. Where do all these theories come from? Maybe the Dyatlovites immediately made a mistake, going where they shouldn't go?

The Belt Stone ridge, on which Mount Kholatchakhl and another "bad" peak, Otorten, are located, is known among the Mansi people as a place where it is better not to go. The name Otorten is translated as “Don't go there”, and the word Holatchakhl means “Mountain of the Dead”.

At the pass between these mountains and another, unnamed peak in 1959, 9 tourists from the Dyatlov group were killed.

The Mansi people have a legend about how the name of the Mountain of the Dead appeared, which is passed down from generation to generation. The legend speaks of a worldwide flood that happened 13 thousand years ago. The waves covered the entire Earth, all people died, except for 11 representatives of the Mansi people.

11 people climbed to the top of Mount Kholatchakhl, hoping that they would be able to escape. But the waves carried away one victim after another, until only two remained alive - a man and a woman. Then the water began to recede, and the surviving couple descended and after a while revived the Mansi tribe again. And the mountain has since been called the Mountain of the Dead, the mountain of death.

It is interesting that the Mountain of the Dead took exactly 9 lives - just like then, in 1959, when Dyatlov's group died. Mansi consider this number symbolic, meaning the end of the old life and the beginning of a new one. They say that after the flood, the Mansi shamans regularly brought sacrifices on Kholatchakhla - 9 living beings at a time. But apparently, the harsh god of these places liked the people more.

Therefore, those who believe in the mystical version of the death of the Dyatlov group believe that the Mansi who died once took Soviet tourists with them - to the liking of each victim.

By the way, the members of the Dyatlov group are not the only ones who died on the slopes of the Mountain of the Dead. In total, over the past 100 years, 27 corpses have been found on Kholatchakhl, despite the fact that this place is one of the most unvisited by tourists in Russia. In three plane crashes of 1960-61, 9 geologists perish over the Dyatlov Pass.

In February 1961, in the same place, near Kholatchakhlya, the bodies of 9 tourists from Leningrad were found. And already in 2003 a helicopter with 9 passengers crashed over the Mountain of the Dead. People survived miraculously. What kind of place is it? Anomalous zone? Or the secret base of the Soviet military, where experiments were carried out on people, as director Rennie Harlin tried to convey in his film "The Secret of the Dyatlov Pass"? Researchers from all over the world will be looking for an answer to this riddle for a long time.
