The largest data center in the world will be built beyond the Arctic Circle
Data centers consume a lot of energy, but even more energy goes directly to the cooling systems. To solve this problem, Kolos plans to build the world's largest data storage and processing center in Norway, where the cold climate will create the most efficient cooling system.
At one time, we told our readers that Microsoft was trying to solve the problem of cooling the data center by lowering the servers to the seabed. However, the climate outside the Arctic Circle offers more favorable conditions for placing a new data center there. The management of the Kolos company has already chosen a site for the construction and it is located on the shore of a lake in the vicinity of the Norwegian city of Ballangen.
In total, the new data center will require about 1000 MW of energy, while the cold climate will reduce energy costs for cooling by 60%.

The world's largest solar power plant
A project for the world's largest solar-powered power plant has been launched in Dubai, according to The National.
According to the publication, the power plant's capacity will be 700 MW. The collector's height will be 260 meters. It will be the tallest such structure in the world.
For comparison: this year in China, the largest floating solar power plant was put into operation, but it is capable of generating only 40 MW of electricity.

It was commissioned in 2017. The station is located in the area of the city of Huainan in the Chinese province of Anhui, it is located in a reservoir that was formed in a former coal quarry.
The power plant is capable of generating 40 MW of electricity and providing energy to 15 thousand homes a year. It is noteworthy that she does not use a collector, i.e. does not interfere with birds.
The world's largest gamma observatory TAIGA is under construction in Siberia
It is expected that next year the construction of the first stage of the gamma observatory with an area of 1 sq. km.
The project to create a gamma observatory is being implemented by an international collaboration that includes seven Russian organizations, five German organizations, as well as the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research, the University of Turin, and the Space Research Institute (Romania).
The gamma-ray observatory under construction will become the largest in the world. Observatory staff are busy searching for "dark matter". It is noteworthy that the gamma observatory is a complex of structures, some of which are already in operation.
Gigafactory
Tesla is building a huge lithium-ion battery factory in the desert, which it casually calls the Gigafactory. Construction has not yet been completed, but it is already striking in size. Russia builds world's largest helium plant
