It is not known when the legend of the Nine Unknowns - the anonymous keepers of ancient wisdom and knowledge - first appeared on Earth. Some researchers see in it a refracted reflection of the fate of the descendants of the Nine Kings of the outskirts of Atlantis, who once served the first king, Atlas himself. (This information was included in the main work of Plato about Atlantis "Critias" and was recorded somewhere in 469-399 BC.) "All of them themselves and their descendants lived there for many generations."
French researcher Jacques Bourgeois in the book "Morning of the Magicians" noted:

It is assumed that as a manifestation of society nine brave and pious knights - founded in Jerusalem in 1118, the Order of the Knights of the Temple - the Order of the Templars. But the fate of the Templars and the demise of their order are also shrouded in darkness. Have Europeans come into contact with the Nine Unknowns in not so distant times? We know that in the XIX century the secrets of the existence of the society of Nine Unknowns were widely touched upon by Louis Jacollio in his books.
Louis Jacolliot was the French consul in Calcutta under the Second Empire, and a wide variety of documents passed through his hands.
After himself, he left a library of the rarest books on the great secrets of mankind, and wrote several novels. Nowadays he is practically forgotten in France, but, fortunately, he is remembered in Russia.
Jacolliot is categorical: the society of the Nine Unknowns is reality. And it is amazing that the tireless researcher of the secrets and mysteries of the Earth Samara regional historian OV Ratnik "dug up" in the pre-revolutionary edition of the novel "Fire Eaters" the exact indication of his (society) area of main activity. These are … the south of the Samara province and the Orenburg Steppes … (But we will return to this a bit later).
Once again, Europeans refer to the story of the Nine Unknowns in the book by Talbot Mandy, which was published in 1927. Talbot Mandy served for 25 years in the British police in India. His book is a half-novel-half-investigation fashionable at the time. The English resident claims that the Nine Unknowns really exist, and each of them is the keeper of the Book (something symbolic, more like Tolkien's rings of omnipotence), which contain a detailed description of certain sciences and are constantly updated:

The legend of the Nine Unknowns is associated with the secret of the waters of the Ganges. Many pilgrims, carriers of the most terrible and most varied diseases, bathe in it without any harm to the healthy. Sacred waters purify everything.
They wanted to attribute this strange property of the river to the formation of bacteriophages. But why are they not also formed in Brahmaputra, Amazon or Seine? The hypothesis of water sterilization appeared in the works of Jacolliot: a hundred years before it became known about the possibilities of such a phenomenon.

Now about why Jacolliot placed his Nine Unknowns in the south of the Samara province in the Orenburg steppes, what were they doing here?
To answer this question, O. V. Ratnik delved into his archives, and it turned out: in these places (for a completely understandable reason, we will not give an exact link), archaeologists have already found one (at least one) mysterious mound, conditionally dated to the end III - early II millennium BC e. A mound with a diameter of 110 m, a height of 3.5 m (presumably its initial height exceeded 5 m). The mound was poured out of the ground with the addition of small stones. It contained a buried skeleton of an elderly man, with rich grave goods. In order to build such a mound, a large human collective was needed, according to the most conservative estimates, forced to spend at least 40 thousand man-days on its construction. Several centuries, or perhaps millennia, after its construction, was the mound attempted to be “robbed”? A huge funnel was dug at its top, which,narrowing, it reached the base, but did not get into the burial.
According to archaeological analysis, it can be assumed that these mounds were left by the "Aryan" people, whose ancestral home was located between the Urals and the Dnieper. In one of the mounds, a very peculiar sword-club made of copper was found, weighing about one and a half kilograms. In appearance, it resembles the sacred weapon "Vajri", the Thunder God of ancient India. (See the article "Through the centuries and millennia" of the newspaper "Samarskie Izvestia" 01/15/91).
Some specialists who worked in these places talked about amazing "dreams", where, like in a kaleidoscope, similar pictures were replaced. If we remove the personal "layers" from these stories, the result is this. They "saw" how the huge Black Tower, bathed in the shimmering light of the moon, rose above the hilly plain, and nine figures, wrapped in dark cloaks, emerged from it.
Darkness. Dawn. Small flaming villages and again - these nine, with fiery whips driving people along the river to the hills.
Strange "machines" dig the ground, make tunnels and people-slaves, with a fixed gaze, erect fortifications around the shimmering Black Tower. A new picture - riders on short horses, armed with slings and short spears, are fighting with "nine". They are led by a tall man with long white hair. The riders jump and fall, burning up in strikes of fire lightning. It seems that their impulse is meaningless and doomed to failure in advance. Time seems to be stretched out. The picture changes very slowly, but now it is clear that not only “nine command the heavenly fire.
The leader of the nomads rushes forward, stretches out his arms to the sky and here is one dark figure, then another flares up with a fiery torch.
The rest begin to retreat to the hills, to their Tower. The riders chase them, but now a fiery front rolls in front of the horses, a violent tornado. It embraces the Tower, crimson darkness thickens, and when it parted, a new picture is seen … Funeral rite - nomads bury a tall man who led them into battle. They erect a mound over his grave and leave, scattering in small groups across the steppe …
Magic dreams. A game of imagination? Or echoes of the events that once really happened here?
Indeed, some legends suggest that the Nine Unknowns, in addition to their main physical body, could create certain conditional "shadows" capable of unlimited movement around the world and solving a variety of tasks.
Isn't there a certain connection between the mysterious society of the Nine Unknowns with another legend - the Mages of the Green Moon Tower (especially since no one has seen more than nine of these “mages”)? As we have already noted (in previous works), the Mages of the Green Moon Tower tried to "gain a foothold" on the territory of Samara Luka. What led to the protracted "war" with the ghostly elders who lived here?
If we once again return to Tolkien's “history”, we will recall that the nine Nazgul in their struggle for power over the world - apart from many other forces, are opposed by seven Dwarfs (or cavemen?).
We find an interesting echo with this motive in the legend of the last century of the Samara province "How the Church Gone." “Old people say that the church left Vasil of Sursky beyond the Volga, with the priest and seven parishioners, and stood there in a doze, in a place that is flooded with water every year.
Few managed to see her, but heard the ringing. Once a tradesman (he had a wife and children) swam across the Volga and climbed into swamps, unfamiliar, deaf places. Look, the church is standing! What, - Thinks - for a miracle? You can't hear that there was a church here, why is it in such a wilderness and swamp?
Came up; pop came out and people with him. They invite him to stay here. He would not mind: he liked it, but he blamed it on his wife.

But once again, let's return to the places where Jacollio placed his Nine Unknowns. According to Cyril Serebrenitsky, a certain "dynasty" of hermits, possessing secret powers, lived here since ancient times. The last of them (the last in the sense that he is the last one we know about), according to legend, with his spiritual or magical power, did nothing less than he stopped the German Wehrmacht near Moscow. (As we have already indicated in the work "History of Shambhala" gas. "New Aquarius" No. 2-12, 1995, many experts believe that German fascism spiritually had Eastern roots - Tibet, India. That is, it "proceeded" from those places where Presumably the Union of the Nine has existed since ancient times.)
In what the candidate of historical sciences B Nevzorov writes (newspaper “Argumenty i fakty” No. 51, 1993) in the article “Victory where defeat was expected”:
“Let us recall that the prologue of the Moscow battle by the Red Army was completely lost. Pavlovich found a message about some Seven heavenly spirits (geniuses) of the Finno-Ugric peoples. The Uzgars live in forest thickets, swamps and caves, deep underground. Traditions vaguely pointed to some connection between the disappearance of people and the appearance of the Uzgars. In this regard, one of the legends of the Mordovians (direct heirs of the Finno-Ugric), discovered by Tatiana Zarya, is especially curious: “One Mordvin had a dream that on a dark night he went beyond the outskirts of the village, where a deep ravine begins, and from that ravine the radiance comes,like the moon fell there … I dreamed and dreamed - you never know what you see in a dream? But he began to dream of this dream every night. He sees the glow in the ravine - and that's it! Mordvin and thought:
"Maybe this is a sign? Let me, I won't sleep one night - I'll go and check! "He waited for midnight and left the outskirts. And there, in fact, something glows in the ravine.
He comes closer and sees the light coming from the pit, melt water washed it out in the spring. He is even closer, sees, an iron door, like the merchants in the shops. Mordvin immediately realized what was what. This, - he thinks, - a charmed treasure opens to me, but how can I get it? “Pull the iron ring,” a voice from the pit tells him. He pulled. This legend can be perceived as follows: some energetic entities do not have a bodily embodiment. And for an active sustainable existence in our world, they need a carrier. A person enters a special place, descends into a secret dungeon, and there, having taken an incarnation, changes. Now he is no longer a man, but a sorcerer or Uzgar, or Ulair Tolkien, (a man who has changed under the influence of a magic ring). Why is Ninth especially highlighted in this legend?
Again, according to Tolkien, the Ninth Ringbearer, King of the Nazgul, was particularly powerful and took the lead. He completed the magic circuit. It is quite understandable that in the collective legend - key moments are highlighted, for example, such as the birth of the Ninth!
In the light of the foregoing, our expedition to Kruglovushka is perceived in a slightly different aspect (See gas. "New Aquarius" No. 18, 1994).

Near Kruglovushka there is a “Holy Lake”. The question may arise, what is the connection between Round Trap, Nine and Heavenly Maiden? (Here we need to refer to the book by I. Mukhanov "Zhigulevskie tales", issue 1). In it, the author cites the story of a certain Nastya from the village of Podgora, on Samarskaya Luka, and the magic knight Borislav. There is everything - a terrible sorcerer-primorok, and the rescued girl - Nastya, and most importantly, a well-done knight. But in the sacred water, for some reason, he is reflected as a dense old man. (Well, how can you not remember the Nazguls here again?): I am three hundred years old, "he says to Nastya.
And then, according to the plot of the tale, Nastya, having acquired magical powers, limits the possibilities of Borislav. What is hidden behind this?

Is it by chance that the very name of the knight Borislav curiously echoes the name of the mysterious Volga Warrior Borislavna? In the popular mind, the image of the bogatyrsha Borislavna is closely intertwined with the image of the "fugitive queen Marinka" (Marina Mnishek - the wife of False Dmitry the First).
