People born after 1970 have a chance to live forever, says futurist Ian Pearson.
For this, he said, people need to live until 2050. It is by this time, according to the scientist, that humanity will overcome mortality.
True, at first such opportunities will be available to the rich and famous. With the spread and cheapening of technology, the middle class will also be able to claim immortality.
The futurist names three ways to become immortal. The first is the replacement of body parts. Genetic engineering should provide such an opportunity. Many scientists around the world are working on creating human organs using 3D printers loaded with living cells that could one day make human organ donors redundant, he says.
The second way is to live in the bodies of androids. He says that in 50 years we could hire an android anywhere in the world "like a rental car" and upload our consciousness into it.
The third method is living in a virtual world. Do we need robotic bodies if it becomes possible to completely digitize our consciousness? "If you are online all the time, you can have a fantastic life, everything will be virtual, so you can get whatever you want," says the futurist, quoted by Sun.
