Despite the fact that today it is the plane that is considered the safest form of public transport, every year at least several aircraft crash. And these high-profile media reports and the high number of deaths lead to the fact that a significant part is generally afraid to fly this "safest" transport.

We have already analyzed a hundred times why people did not bother to create some kind of "escape capsules" for passengers and the answer is always the same - money.

The first thing that comes to mind about a passenger rescue system on an airliner is the argument that a similar system already exists in military aircraft. So why has nothing like this emerged in civilian airlines over the decades? In fact, since the 1970s, a similar system has been tried repeatedly. There were many projects, including several very successful ones.

None of the initiatives in this area have been ultimately successful for two reasons. The first is the overall complexity of the passenger liner design. The fact is that a military catapult to rescue a pilot is a very complex mechanism, the operation of which does not guarantee a successful outcome at all (contrary to Hollywood films).

It is technically extremely difficult to save one person in this way. Rescuing tens and hundreds is even more difficult. The second reason is cost effectiveness. Everything and much will rise in price, from airplanes to tickets for flights.

If evacuating each passenger separately is not rational even not because of money, but because of the ineffectiveness of the final result, then it would be effective to make such an evacuation body of the aircraft for everyone. But again, it means changing the design of ALL aircraft.

It is because of the multimillion-dollar cost of modernizing the aircraft fleet (which not every large company is capable of pulling), the significant increase in the cost of new aircraft and the lack of guarantees of efficient operation that make the passenger aviation abandon such design initiatives. In addition, the safety of passengers and crew is improved from year to year in other ways. Namely, by improving the existing aviation equipment. Today, planes crash much less frequently than they did back in the 1980s.

But I'm wondering if there will ever come a time on Earth when a person's life will not be compared with some kind of piece of paper called money?
