The Mexican Rios family from Nezahualcoyotl was arrested for gouging out the eyes of a five-year-old boy during a satanic ritual. The child was their relative.

When five-year-old Fernando Caleb Alvarado saw his mother, aunt, two uncles, and grandparents doing this, he was ordered to turn away or close his eyes. But he was too scared and kept looking. Then, in anger, his mother grabbed him and with the help of relatives gouged out his eyes with a spoon.
The neighbors heard the child's screams and called the police, who broke into the house and saw half-naked Satanists stained with blood, who stood around the boy groaning on the floor. The trial lasted two years and the other day the court sentenced the perpetrators to 30 years in prison for each. Today, seven-year-old Fernando wears eye prostheses and is undergoing rehabilitation. He lives in a new family.
