At the age of 80, Charles Hickson, the legend of ufology, died, a man who not only visited the "flying saucer", but also found witnesses to this incident. So what happened to him?
Charles, a former foreman at a shipyard, just barely lived to see the 40th anniversary of his nightmarish contact with brothers in mind. Then, late on the evening of October 11, 1973, he went fishing with a workmate, 19-year-old Calvin Parker. Hickson himself was then 42 years old.
Men fished from an abandoned pier on the Pascagoula River in Mississippi. And suddenly they heard a whistle, turning into a hiss, which came from above and behind. Turned around. A meter above the ground and about 15 meters from them hung either a disk or a cylinder with two flashing lights. Or windows.
“I don’t know if it was round or oblong,” Charles later said. “I saw the little dome from above, but I couldn't see the whole thing. I didn't even understand what size it was.
The Gizmo opened the hatch. Three figures emerged from it. And went to the fishermen.
- And why didn't I jump into the river to swim away from them? Parker wondered for many years.
The creatures looked terrible: gray wrinkled skin, very long arms, ending in something like pincers, legs like elephants. The heads grew straight out of the shoulders. That is, the creatures had no necks. Where people should have had noses, some kind of protrusions protruded, like carrots in snowmen. Similar formations stuck out on the sides - in place of the ears. They either pulled in or crawled out.
Directly under the front "carrots" there were narrow slits, vaguely resembling mouths. The aliens either did not have eyes at all, or they were lost in the folds of the skin.

The creatures swam towards Hickson without moving their legs. Two grabbed him from both sides. Something pricked my arm and made it impossible to move. Charles could only watch as the creatures drag him into their apparatus. The third "elephant" carried Parker's limp body in its arms.
Come for a medical examination
There were no seats or equipment to be seen inside the ship, only a very bright light. Hickson hung in the air like an astronaut in zero gravity. Something like an eye crawled out of the wall and began to move back and forth, as if carefully examining Hickson. Then the creatures turned the kidnapped over, and the "eye" continued its examination.
Finally, the "elephants" pulled their prey back to the pier. And they let go. Hickson immediately fell on his back - his legs did not obey. Parker stood there motionless, arms outstretched as if in a deep trance. The foreman crawled to his comrade, but soon realized that he could get up. At that moment, the device took off and disappeared, blinking blue lights. The whole incident lasted about 20 minutes.
For a long time Parker refused to tell what happened to him in the UFO - they say, he lost consciousness, I don't remember anything. But after 20 years he got into a conversation: he was brought to another room and put on a tilted table. A "small" creature appeared, according to Parker, female. I examined him. And then he stuck a needle into manhood, telepathically reporting that there would be no harm from this.
The military were not surprised
Four hours later, the fishermen, having recovered a little, rushed to the police. Sheriff Fred Diamond and Captain Glen Rader saw that they were clearly shaken to the core by something, but did not believe in the UFO story.
To catch the narrators, the police took them to a separate room, turning on a hidden recording. But even in private, the fishermen shook with fear, exchanging fragmentary phrases. And Kelvin got down on his knees and began to pray.
After listening to the tape, Rader realized that the men were not joking, and contacted Kiesler Air Force Base. There the "contactees" were examined by army doctors. After making sure that Hickson and Parker were physically healthy, the military cross-examined them. Policeman Tom Huntley was present and noted that the military acted as if they had heard about UFO abductions on board every day. When Hickson mentioned that the creatures' hands resembled pincers, the two colonels looked at each other - apparently, this detail was familiar to them.

Ufologist James Harder, who took over from the military, came to the conclusion: "There was definitely something extraterrestrial … One can only guess where they came from and why, but the fact that they were here is the truth, which is impossible to doubt." Another ufologist - Allen Hynek - confirmed: "I have no doubt that these two people experienced something terrible."
Charles Hickson passed a lie detector test. When the test was over, the operator exclaimed, "Looks like this son of a bitch is telling the truth!" The official conclusion on the test was not so emotional: "The subject sincerely believes that he saw an extraterrestrial ship and was taken aboard by some creatures."
It soon became clear that three more people saw the UFO over Pascagoula - police officer Raymond Broadus, city councilor Eugene Sagalas and a woman who did not want to identify herself. The ship was exactly the same shape as described during interrogation by the abducted.
In 2001, retired naval officer Mike Cataldo said that he and two of his companions also saw the object above the docks that evening. In the morning, he called Keesler Air Force Base and left the phone, but no one contacted him for details.

Still not without a mental hospital
When the exhausting checks and interrogations ended, Parker was hospitalized with a nervous breakdown and was treated for a long time. Even a few months later, his hands were shaking so much that he could not work. Hickson turned out to be more persistent - the brigadier's nerves were tempered in Korea, where he fought and was awarded five medals. However, his adventures were far from over …
In January 1974, Charles was on the hunt and finally sat down to grab a bite, resting the gun on his lap. Suddenly he felt: everything around seemed to freeze, the sounds disappeared and there was complete silence. The same ship appeared in the clearing as it had three months ago - did not land, but appeared out of nowhere. The words sounded in his head: “We do not want to harm you or anyone else. You will be able to communicate with us in the future. You have passed the test. You are the chosen one. Do not be afraid. We will contact you soon."
Then the aliens found Hickson right in the yard of the house. He did not see the UFO, but the words again sounded in his head: “You must tell people that we will not cause harm. Your world needs help. We will help in the future before it's too late. You are not ready to understand it yet. We'll be back soon."

Hickson, of course, was in no hurry to expose himself to ridicule, but on May 12, they actually returned, and in front of other eyewitnesses. As Charles was driving with his wife, sister and acquaintances, a ship appeared, which seemed to be about to land right in front of the hood. Hickson realized that they had come for him and asked the driver to stop, but the passengers went into hysterics, demanding to leave as quickly as possible. At that moment Hickson "heard" a voice: "Drive. There will be another time and place to meet. " The ship no longer moved and disappeared from sight around the next turn.
Hickson celebrated the anniversary of the kidnapping on the same pier with William Mendez of Michigan College. The night passed without incident, and they decided to go to the Starlight UFO Center (where specialists tried to contact UFOs using lasers, searchlights and other equipment). On October 12, a UFO the size of a full moon appeared in the sky, from which two vibrating lines in the form of the letter V emanated downward. Scientists pointed their lenses, but did not have time to take pictures: the ship took off and disappeared. Hickson had no doubt that the aliens were following him, but no telepathic messages came this time.
Until his death, Charles waited for the aliens to return, deliberately traveled to remote places. But they never fulfilled their promise …

More legendary, of course, was Betty Hill, who became the first dugout to be abducted by aliens. At least before her, no one told about anything like that.
Betty and her husband Barney were taken to the plate on August 19, 1961. Also examined. But the appearance of the aliens was not the same as described by Hickson.
Barney died in 1969, Betty in 2004. Now Hickson is gone. There is no one to talk to about aliens … Is that with Parker? But for some reason he does not like to remember that day. Maybe because of that injection?
