Soon after the disaster at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant (Ukraine), which occurred on April 26, 1986, rumors spread among the people that some time before the accident, which killed about 4 thousand people in total, strange creatures were seen in the city, and people had nightmares.
Most often, people saw a huge black bird in the sky, and some described this creature as humanoid, but without a head and with large wings. Red eyes were sometimes described.
In the west, among researchers of anomalous phenomena, there is an opinion that the same Moth Man flew over Chernobyl, which was previously observed in the American town of Point Pleasant in 1967. At Point Pleasant, a bridge collapsed shortly thereafter, killing 46 people.
Based on the incidents at Point Pleasant and Chernobyl, Moth Man is believed to be the harbinger of major disasters with a large number of human deaths.
Even several employees of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant allegedly saw the strange black "bird", as it flew directly over the station. And they saw her just a few days before the accident. They described this creature as large and dark or black with the figure of a headless man, but with giant wings and red glowing eyes.
This "bird" scared people so much that it was allegedly even reported to the higher authorities. And after that, frightening phone calls were heard in the apartments of residents of the city with silence in the receiver.
After the explosion and the resulting fire, helicopters were sent to the scene of the accident to extinguish. People put out the fire for many hours and many of the firefighters subsequently died from the radiation. Some of the workstations survived the blast, but died later in the hospital.

And among them was someone who managed to tell that he saw a strange black flying creature in the smoke of a nuclear fire. This creature had a wingspan of six meters and it very smoothly rose up, sliding through the smoke.
This was the last sighting of the Black Bird or Moth Man at Chernobyl. This creature was never seen here again.
Most experts on anomalous phenomena are sure that the same Moth Man was in Chernobyl.
Skeptics believe that people most likely saw the large black stork, which are common in southern Eurasia. However, outwardly it is very difficult to confuse a flying black stork with a headless man with wings.
The mystery of this creature or creatures is even more incomprehensible if you know that they were not observed in other cases with the death of a large number of people. Why they appear in one place, and are absent in another, is also unknown.
