Modern researchers have not yet fully studied the notebooks of the legendary Italian scientist, inventor and man of art, Leonardo da Vinci, who during his life managed to make such a colossal amount of scientific discoveries that they still cannot make out. For example, it was recently discovered that Leonardo da Vinci, among other things, was studying the force of friction, and even developed his own theory to formalize it.

The indicative notes were discovered by Ian Hutchings, a professor of mechanical engineering at the University of Cambridge, UK, who was drawn to seemingly strange blueprints hidden under a layer of other notes.

“Studying the records of Leonardo da Vinci, I somehow realized that the mysterious drawings that caught my eye were a description of an experiment demonstrating the effect of friction,” the professor quotes The Telegraph, where the relevant material appeared.

The experiment described by the Italian scientist can be repeated by any modern physics teacher, but at that time it was a real scientific breakthrough, experts comment on the discovery.
