Egypt continues to develop its tourism potential, opening a new, previously inaccessible for tourist visits, pyramid. The necropolis belongs to the twelfth dynasty pharaoh Senusret II. The excursion novelty is located in the El-Lahun necropolis to the south of the Fayum oasis. Experts expect that the first discovered find will arouse genuine interest among tourists.
The pyramid was found back in 1840. It was an unusual find thanks to its hidden entrance and intricate labyrinthine system. The sights returned to the study only in 1980. By this time, there were practically no valuables left in it, but a well-preserved sarcophagus and several gold artifacts were found.
It is worth noting that in the ancient Egyptian necropolis, within the boundaries of which the oldest pyramid was found, scientists have discovered many unique finds. Now the attraction awaits conservation, preparation of the monument for a tourist visit and the organization of security measures.
