Carnivorous bacteria have re-emerged in the Gulf of Mexico. At least two people who bathed in its waters were injured because they entered the water with open wounds, and one became infected by eating raw oysters.
The Department of Health in Michigan (USA, Alabama) reported that all three suffered from the bacteria Vibrio Vulnificus, which lives in the salt water of the bay, and only in warm water (from it, they say, you can only get infected in the summer). Getting into the human body, for example, through the stomach (eating live mollusks) or through a wound on the skin, such bacteria begin to multiply vigorously, killing their victim almost in a matter of hours.
According to doctors, if a person after infection with Vibrio Vulnificus did not have time to go to the clinic within 24 hours, he is practically doomed to death, and in the case of infection through a wound, an unhealed ulcer forms in it so quickly that a person can be saved only by amputating an arm or leg if fortunately (relative, of course) the penetration of Vibrio Vulnificus happened precisely through the limbs.
There have already been 33 cases of carnivorous bacteria infections since the beginning of the year, according to one Michigan Public Health official. Therefore, at present, doctors recommend that Americans and visitors to Michigan stay away from the waters of the Gulf of Mexico, and certainly not eat living seafood.
Journalists, however, suspect (and not without reason) that the fault of all these terrible cases was not the rather safe Vibrio Vulnificus, but the bacterium Cynthia (Mycoplasma laboratorium), which was artificially created by American scientists. Synthesized in laboratories and released at one time (without serious study of the consequences) for "devouring" the oil that spilled in 2010 in the Gulf of Mexico due to the fault of the British Petroleum company, Cynthia soon switched to a more delicious living organic matter - the animal world of the deep sea. It goes from her to the person. Therefore, it is unsafe to live (and even more so to come here to rest) near the Gulf of Mexico.
