In our time, the importance of religion and faith in modern society is being discussed more actively than before. Apparently, following the laws of social development, a period of increased attention to this topic has come, and for sure in the foreseeable future, interest in it is unlikely to diminish. The division into believers and atheists accepted today is to a large extent far-fetched, for there can be no clear boundary here. Before starting to express his views, the author must certainly indicate his own attitude to religion and faith. I do not consider myself to be believers and religious people, but atheism is alien to me.
As soon as we are going to talk about spirituality, then it is necessary to clarify for ourselves the meaning of such an important concept as spirit. There are many definitions of the spirit and everyone is free to choose the closest one. In my perception, the spirit is something unknowable and indefinable, it manifests itself as the highest spiritual essence, "a particle of God" contained in each of us. I do not see here a contradiction with the purpose of man - to cognize and create, including himself. There are things (spirit among them) that lie above human understanding, you can put life in order to comprehend them, but still not achieve the result. In this connection, the concept of “soul” cannot be ignored, I agree with the assertion that it is a means of expressing the spirit, it can be conventionally considered “personal”. Sure,in relation to a person, the definition “spiritual” is used quite often and is perceived as a set of very high properties and qualities. I consider it important to mention the Russian spirit here, while leaving the readers to decide for themselves what it represents, I will only note that, for example, "Russian rebellion, senseless and merciless" cannot be considered a manifestation of the Russian spirit, because as part of a single spirit, it only in pure and lofty deeds and aspirations. For a long time I have already defined for myself the meaning of such important concepts as spirituality and spiritual development. I will not say that the available explanations did not suit me, it was just important to briefly express their essence for my level of development. In my understanding, spirituality is defined as a worldview based on pure thoughts and high aspirations, prompting a person to practical deeds based on them. And spiritual development is affirmed as the creation of internal and external conditions for the manifestation of the highest spiritual essence of man. Today it so happened in our society that spirituality, as it were, cannot be perceived otherwise than belonging to a certain religious denomination, meanwhile it is a phenomenon of a much higher order than religion or faith. Human nature is such that even being constantly immersed in work,using all the new achievements of civilization for recreation and creativity, he will always feel a certain incompleteness, incompleteness of the picture of life. Such a feature, to a large or very small extent, is inherent in any person and everyone explains it in his own way. Most have not found for themselves the faith or teaching that could be the result of their innermost quest. Well, for such people the paths to the heights of spirituality are closed? Of course not closed. The desire to perceive the world through its spiritual laws is completely natural and is inherent in a person from the very beginning. The widespread today appeal to the spiritual practices of the East very often does not bring the desired result. You have to understand that we are different, we are a northern country, while spiritually we are no better and no worse than the people of the East. Of course, the wisdom of the East, rooted in antiquity, remains unshakable,although the wisdom of our ancient ancestors cannot but exist, so far we know little about it.
There is a widespread belief in our society that certain spiritual impulses are one thing, but everyday life is quite another. Excuse and self-deception, everyone understands this, but they prefer not to speak out loud. Often people, whose names are heard both in big cities and in their outbacks, speak very correct and necessary words, but how many of them follow the simple and well-known rule "What you preach, confess"? The answer is obvious, but this rule is the most important component of spirituality, the pursuit of which, in essence, is the main task of any person's life. I am sure that for the accelerated development of Russia it is absolutely necessary to use the creative spiritual potential of our people. Why are we talking today clever words about anything but this? After all, this is a completely different country, and besides, it happened so,that the Russian mentality certainly needs some kind of overriding task, for the solution of which it does not spare either effort or time. I will note that I am talking about the country and not about the state. The current state, in principle, is not able to use this potential, and it does not need it, but it is necessary for us, the caring people of my country, who alone can turn it into real achievements in all areas of our life. Today we have a rich and beautiful land, an intelligent, selfless, but poor people. Nonsense, this should not be! What is missing to remove such a contradiction? It is necessary "just" to create a state, for which the main task will be all-round assistance to the self-organization of residents to solve interesting and important tasks for the development of their country. In the meantime, we must do it ourselves. We see enough compatriots aroundwho understand that Russia should neither imitate anyone nor oppose itself. Having set the task of catching up with someone, we forget that it is not at all necessary to follow in the footsteps, and the goal to which the one who has gone forward moves can be achieved in a completely different way.
For a long time in our print and electronic media all kinds of politicians, political scientists, observers and journalists writing on political topics have become the most published and invited. With profound significance, they constantly instill the idea that the most important thing in our life is politics and its discussion. When I declare that there is something more important for the country than politics, people who imagine themselves to be experts in everything and everyone begin, each in their own way, condescendingly pat me on the shoulder, saying that I am far from understanding real life. Let me, however, assert that I do understand something in Life. The development of each human community is a consequence of the action of certain laws of the Universe, and the desire to comprehend them in relation to oneself, by the highest account, is the most important task for any country.
Without any exaggeration, today Russia can be called the only country that can easily be self-sufficient, which implies a special need for the priority of internal development, and other countries themselves will want to take an example from Russia, seeing its impulse and achievements.
