Video: Is the Pharaoh's Curse Real ? 2024, October

The Egyptians had to prepare carefully for life on the other side of death. Especially when it comes to the pharaohs - for them the concept of the necessary was particularly wide: in addition to the mummified body, everything that ensures a comfortable existence in the kingdom of the dead was placed in the tomb. Other objects became a real temptation for mere mortals, disturbing the king's peace out of self-interest; by the beginning of the 20th century, scientists had added to the list of tomb robbers. Some had to pay for their curiosity.

Don't go to pharaoh's grave

The topic of the curse began to be discussed in the first third of the twentieth century, when the archaeological expedition led by G. Carter was able to refute the opinion prevailing among Egyptologists: the time of phenomenal discoveries has passed. However, the opened grave of the 19th Tutankhamun told the world something opposite!

Taking out the mummy of the young pharaoh from the last sarcophagus (there were 4 of them in a luxurious tomb behind the golden gates), Carter found a tablet with the ominous inscription among the jewels that had showered Tutankhamun's body: "Death is walking with rapid steps on the heels of the tsar who disturbed the peace."

The archaeologist did not report the contents of the "message" to the companions. However, after 4 months, a series of deaths of members of the expedition, members of their families and people present at the opening of the tomb began, which ended only by 1929.

Some died from an incomprehensible disease with similar symptoms (fever, falling into unconsciousness, cerebral hemorrhage), others from reasons not directly related to being in the tomb (someone was shot, someone jumped out of the window, or fell victim to pneumonia) … But every death was premature. The mystically minded public has a reason to whisper about the ancient curse, picked up by the mass press.

But isn't he killing?

The belief in curses is foreign to critical people who tend to seek more plausible causes of mysterious deaths. So, Professor G. Steindorf insisted: the text of the found tablet is interpreted distorted, and there is nothing ominous in the inscription itself.

Symptoms of the disease may well indicate poisoning with poisons, the recipe for which might not have survived for centuries, and it was not difficult to saturate fabrics and walls with them. The poison could have formed without the intent of the ancient specialists in ritual services: the fungus contained in the mold is quite capable of becoming deadly. The version about the radioactivity of the tomb stones also has a right to exist.

It is now difficult to search for the true causes of death, from which journalists have successfully fabricated sensations. And yet, the sign left thousands of years ago obliges the climber to heightened attention, where not invited!
