The discovery is the fruit of decades of work by experts who reject the idea that the monument was influenced by ancient Egyptians or aliens. Scientists disagree with the opinion that Stonehenge was a prehistoric observatory, a place of healing, a temple of the sun, or ancient druids.
The stones symbolize the forefathers of all kinds of clans - the beginning of peasant families from the end of the Stone Age, whose coexistence was marked by conflicts and religious differences.
"When Stonehenge was built, a culture common to the entire island developed - the same style of houses, ceramics and more," says Professor Mike Pearson of the University of Sheffield. "This is completely different from the regionalism of previous centuries."
The construction of the monument also underlines this new spirit of cooperation. "Stonehenge itself was a massive undertaking, requiring many people to work to move stones straight out of West Wales to shape and shape," he continues. "Even the work itself, literally pulling everything together, must have been an act of unification."
The location previously had a special meaning for the British - the alley, oriented against the solstice, is based on a number of natural landforms that form along a random axis between the directions of sunrise and summer sunset. This preliminary significance explains why the ancients chose this site to build Stonehenge there. “That might explain why there are eight solstice-oriented monuments near Stonehenge, a number that is not found anywhere else. They probably saw this place as the center of the world,”Pearson says.
In terms of architectural influences, these can all be found in previous monuments and buildings in the UK. They come from Wales and Scotland, Pearson is adamant.
