A mysterious and still unexplained case of mass psychosis occurred earlier this week in a private girls' school in the Japanese city of Yanagawa, Fukuoka Prefecture.
According to the school administration, during the lesson, one of the high school students suddenly fell to the floor with screams, after which, in a few seconds, hysteria swept all her classmates - a total of 26 people. The school leadership was forced to completely cancel the lessons and send the victims to psychologists, who at the moment have not been able to find out the reasons for what happened. Experts note that sudden tantrums can be "contagious", but another - mystical - explanation of the events in Yanagawa is more popular on the Japanese Internet.
According to anonymous witnesses in the classroom, the "instigator" of psychosis shouted "Kill me", which, in their opinion, is a sign of possession by an evil spirit. The school administration has already rushed to assure that the "evil spirits" were not involved in the incident.
Nevertheless, the story of the "Yanagawa incident" spread on local social networks and promises to become the main horror story of this summer - a time that is traditionally considered a time of special activity of otherworldly forces in Japan.
