Unknown persons at the cemetery in Olsztyn stole human remains from a fresh burial.
An empty coffin was found next to the fence by the necropolis watchman. The man reported the suspicious find to the police. At the cemetery of the city of Olsztyn, which is located in northern Poland, the watchman discovered an excavated grave.
He reported the incident to the police. The man told law enforcement officers that during the nightly round he saw a coffin next to one of the fences. Coming closer, the watchman found the opened grave. According to him, the funeral was held here last week.
Arriving at the scene, the guards found the excavated grave and an empty coffin lying next to it. Meanwhile, the criminals did not touch the monument and the wreaths standing next to it. The guards of order on the fact of this incident are checking.
It is now known that they have already contacted the relatives of the deceased, who was buried in this grave, and informed them of the incident.
“This business is extremely dirty and unusual. We will make every effort to find out who is kidnapping the dead and why,”said Zbigniew Czerwinski, press secretary of the Olsztyn Prosecutor's Office.
Meanwhile, the city's law enforcement agencies reported that this is far from the only case related to the plundering of graves that has occurred in Poland recently. So, last year, in cemeteries located in the vicinity of the settlements of Lembork, Gdynia and Elblag, several incidents were recorded at once when unknown persons took out coffins from the graves and abducted the dead lying in them.
Law enforcement officials do not exclude that the deceased could have been used to perform any rituals or ceremonies. It is also possible that the action of drugs created in clandestine laboratories was tested on bodies. In addition, it is possible that the scammers tried to sell the organs of the dead on the black market.
