In the center of the Pacific Ocean, 1200 kilometers south of the Hawaiian Islands, there is a small coral group of islands called Palmyra Atoll. These islands have all the qualities of an ideal vacation spot - there are snow-white beaches, beautiful reefs, tall coconut palms, a warm climate and an azure ocean. But sharks and small carnivorous fish swim near the beaches, poisonous lizards and mosquitoes are found on the islands, and an inexplicable feeling of fear and anxiety haunts people on the atoll. And those who managed to leave the island alive consider themselves lucky.
The first incident that ended in the death of people on Palmyra happened in 1798. The American ship "Betsy" happened to be on the reefs. The team decided to swim to the island, but only ten managed to swim - the rest either drowned or were eaten by sharks. But the surviving ten began to have problems - by the time they were picked up by a passing ship, only three people remained. And they confidently declared that they would never end up in this terrible place again. Another American ship, Angel, suffered approximately the same fate. But unlike Betsy, this crew did not manage to escape. Later, rescuers found the bodies of the ship's crew, it was clear that they suffered a violent death.
During the Second World War, an American military garrison was built on one of the islands of Palmyra. The soldiers who had to serve here talked about the incredible panic that did not leave them while on the island. There were fights, quarrels, murders and suicides - people, for some unknown reason, felt irritable, aggressive and angry. Once the military managed to shoot down an enemy plane - it fell somewhere near the garrison. However, the military did not find either the plane itself or its pilot. But on the island there are several military aircraft of that time.
In 1974, the couple moored to the shores of the atoll on their own yacht. For three days they gave signals about their stay, then they stopped. A rescue team that arrived in Palmyra found the remains of the spouses' bodies, which were buried in different parts of the island. It was assumed that they could have been killed by a fugitive prisoner because of the expensive yacht and food supplies. But this version has not been confirmed.
In 1990, another traveler came to the island, who decided to solve the mystery of Palmyra. In addition to himself, his expeditionary group included three more comrades. As soon as the team landed on the island, everyone was again seized by the same panic attack of fear. Very soon, conflicts began to happen between friends. Initially, the researchers planned to stay here for 2 months, but escaped within a week. In addition, their ship equipment began to malfunction. When they arrived home, according to their on-board instruments, it should have been April 24th. But in fact it turned out to be 25. It's hard to imagine where the whole day could disappear.

There are different versions about what is really going on in Palmyra. Someone is sure that sectarians have settled on one of the islands. Others believe in the existence of a hostile being there, or several similar beings. Still others are looking for evidence that Palmyr herself is alive, capable of luring her victims and killing. There are those who write off all the strangeness of the island on the gate located there to parallel realities. And, perhaps, the whole explanation is the burial of radioactive waste that the Americans arranged there in 1986.
