China has its own "Bermuda Triangle". This Lake Poyang (Poyang Hu) is the largest freshwater lake in the Middle Kingdom. There are many spooky stories associated with Lake Poyan.
Missing yacht
“I remember one day, in the winter of 2001, we were at the lake and everything was fine, but the weather changed dramatically,” says a local resident named Zhang Xiaojing. “The waves were suddenly so violent that we turned the boats around and sailed back. But not everyone managed to reach the coast. The bow of the boat carrying the sand suddenly tilted, and soon the whole boat disappeared under the water.
The storm lasted less than 20 minutes, and very quickly everything returned to normal, as if nothing had happened. In the memory of Zhang Xiaodzin alone, more than 200 boats sank in the lake. Among them are not only simple fishing yachts, but also large, durable yachts. Quite recently, in front of everyone, a yacht with a displacement of 1000 tons overturned near the shore, although it was a sunny day and there was not even a hint of a storm.
How not to go crazy
Over the past thirty years, more than one and a half thousand people have drowned in the waters of the lake. Those who managed to escape during the shipwreck lost their minds.

On April 16, 1945, a Japanese military boat sank in this lake. All 20 crew members were killed. And when the Japanese sent a detachment of divers to raise the boat, then it disappeared under water. Only one person returned. For several days he was in a state of shock, a mask of horror on his face. Soon, this only surviving diver went mad.
On August 3, 1985, 13 fishing boats simultaneously sank in the waters of the lake near the Laoi temple (the temple is located on the northern shore of the lake). No one managed to escape. Despite numerous attempts to find these boats and the remains of the fishermen, nothing has been found so far.
Another incredible incident related to the mysterious waters of the lake occurred in 1977. In that year, three dams were built on the lake - specifically to protect the shores and fishing boats from sudden oncoming storms. In the same year, one dam - a huge dam 600 meters long and more than 50 meters wide - disappeared completely silently under the water in one night.
Mysterious wind
Scientists who have studied the lake note that the wind over this mysterious reservoir can blow simultaneously in various directions and change completely unpredictably. For some reason, even the spray from the tops of the waves does not fly in a straight line, but scattering in different directions in the shape of the letter V. It is still impossible to explain what caused this willful behavior of the wind and spray.
However, despite all these horrors, local fishermen regularly go out into the waters of Lake Poyang and fish there. Locals say that a storm can start at any moment, but if you carefully monitor the slightest changes - the direction of the wind, the height and direction of the waves - no matter how far they appear, you can manage to escape from the storm to places protected by the coast. But there are very few such experienced fishermen, and therefore few risk going out on their own into the waters of Lake Poyan.
