Greg Leeson does not agree to call his home a full-fledged "haunted house". The man explains: "I read on the Internet that people are advised to mention all the disadvantages of the housing being sold, and decided to play it safe once again." In fact, state law requires listing even minor defects in the sale of real estate. And the presence of paranormal activity on a par with the deaths and murders that occurred in the house is included in the list of "defects", explains former city lawyer Frank DeFazio.
Leeson admitted that he was not completely sure about the presence of ghosts in his house, and in general he always seeks to find a scientific basis for events. However, he admits that oddities in the house (up for sale for $ 144,000) did occur.
The man says that when his daughter was in infancy, voices sometimes came from her locked room. “It seemed that someone was talking to her, but when we entered the room, the girl was just sitting in her bed. This did not happen very often, and many friends claim that my house is the most peaceful of all that they have seen."
Either way, characterizing the house as "slightly paranormally active" turned out to be a good advertisement: Leeson had already received many offers. The man is sure: "If a person likes my house, such a trifle will not stop him anyway." And he is certainly right: there have been times when the presence of a ghost even raised the value of the house.
According to Joe Aldridge, a spokesman for the British company Stacks Property Search, the presence of a ghost in the house can even increase the value of real estate. Especially when it comes to historic mansions that have been remembered by many generations of famous owners.
The specialist admits that some clients of their company specially order the selection of real estate with a ghost, and some resort to the services of mediums during the transaction.
The fashion for "ghost" real estate exists not only in the Old World, but also on the other side of the Atlantic. Wanting to please potential buyers, the American entrepreneur has created a website that helps calculate haunted houses. The Internet resource began its work in July 2013, and in the first five months sold several thousand reports.
