Why do vampires not die under the light of spotlights and lamps, but die like flies in the bright sun? Surprisingly, scientists have found a completely rational and even physics-based explanation for this.
The point is that sunlight will have a much shorter wavelength of radiation than candles or incandescent bulbs. Scientists have suggested that the hypothetical vampire is not afraid of light as such, but ultraviolet radiation.
Indeed, this theory works for all medieval vampires. The bloodsuckers of Gothic novels were not very afraid of candles and bonfires, but they instantly burned out at the slightest glimmer of sunlight.
But will this work for "modern vampires"? Hollywood has accustomed us to a new image of a bloodsucker, who easily finds his victim on a dance floor flooded with just the same ultraviolet light.

It turns out that modern vampires should not be afraid of the sun. Theoretically, they may well walk with you at all times. Great idea, isn't it?
