The Isle of Skye, which belongs to Scotland, is a real gold mine for archaeologists. Traces of dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures are regularly found on the territory. Recently, scientists have found as many as fifty new tracks, which are more than 170 million years old.

Most of the tracks belong to the "older brothers" of tyrannosaurs - theropods. Signs of other dinosaurs, in particular sauropods and long-necked herbivores, were also found.

Scientist Steve Brusatte from the University of Edinburgh notes that earlier the terrain of Scotland was very hot, so it was from this territory that the conquest of the world by dinosaurs began.

The territory of the Isle of Skye was additionally explored using drones. It was from a height that the largest (seventy centimeter) footprint belonging to a sauropod was discovered. The belonging of the footprints to one or another species of dinosaur was determined by the shape of the claws and fingers.

The last time the Isle of Skye was explored in 2015, then scientists also made a number of discoveries. Experts have determined that sauropods appeared much earlier than the expected time.
