British media panic over the "Frankenstein meat" from genetically modified pigs specially created in the laboratory.

The pigs were created by scientists from Edinburgh and these pigs are incredibly resistant to the most deadly viruses that infect farm animals. Including the so-called Blue Ear Syndrome, which causes breathing problems, and also leads to the birth of non-viable offspring.

The meat should go on sale in the next ten years, but before that the pigs will be carefully checked for possible negative consequences.

“We will conduct longer studies to confirm that the genetic changes in these pigs will not have any unanticipated adverse effects on animals in the future,” says Dr. Christina Tate-Burkart of the Rosslyn Institute near Edinburgh.

The scientist also spoke about the need for extensive work with the public and politicians, because there is a persistent prejudice in society against GMO products and the issue of the acceptability of creating such products.

GMO pigs were created in the same laboratory where Dolly the famous sheep was once cloned, so we can say that qualified professionals were engaged in this business. According to them, the meat of these pigs will also taste great both in the form of bacon, and in sausages or cutlets.

Currently, genetically modified animals are banned for human consumption in Europe.
